ADVERTISING-SIGN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 665,811, dated January 8, 1901.
Application filed May 9, 1900. Serial No. 15,996- (No model.)
To all whom it 11mg concern:
Be it known that I, ISAIAH H. TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Advertising-Signs, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improvement in advertising-signs.
The object of the invention is to provide a device for advertising purposes that will be cheap and attractive and which can be readily attached to or removed from a fence, tree, or other desired object.
Other features of the invention will be fully set forth in the description of the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved sign. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of same. Fig. 3 is a plan view of one of the disks. Fig. 4 is a side view of same. Fig. 5 is a detailed view of the lower support, showing a washer secured thereto.
Similar nu merals refer to like parts throughout the several views.
In the accompanying drawings,l designates the sign, and 2 the supports upon which the sign revolves.
The sign 1 is formed with three corners and is made of a single piece of metal having the ends thereof soldered or otherwise secured together at any desired point. The sign 1, however, may be made with any desired number of corners and may be formed of any number of pieces, each representing a different side. At each end the sign 1 is provided with a disk 3, said disks being provided with holes at, in which the ends of the supports project. These disks 3 are held to the sign 1 by means of screws 5 or solder, as desired, and project slightly beyond the sign,as shown in Fig. l, and permit the sign to freely revolve without striking the supports 2.
The supports 2 are formed of wire or other suitable material and are provided with an eye 6 at one end, and the opposite end 7 is bent at right angles to the said support. The ends 7 of the supports project into the holes 4 of the disks 3 and allow the sign to revolve freely on the said supports. The lower support may be provided with a washer 8, as shown in Fig. 1, to form a perfect seat for the sign to revolve on, or the washer may be dispensed with and the hole 4 made to extend only half-way through the disk 3, thereby allowing the sign to rest on the end 7 of the support.
The supports 2 are held to any desired object by means of a screw or nail through the eyes 6.
It will be seen that by myimproved device the sign will be free to revolve on the supports.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- 1. In an advertising device, the combination of the sign, 1; a disk secured to each end of the sign, opposite each other; and two supports each having one end bent at right an gles thereto to fit within the said disks and the opposite end provided with means to secure them to any desired object.
2. In an advertising device, the combination of a sign, 1; two disks, 3, secured to the said sign, opposite each other; and two sup- 7 5 ports, 2, on which the sign revolves, said supports having one end bent at right angles thereto and fitted within the said disks, and the opposite ends provided with means by which the supports can be secured to any desired object.
3. In an advertising device, the combination of a sign, 1; two disks, 3, secured to and projecting beyond the said sign, said disks being provided with holes, 4, for the reception of the angular bent ends, 7, of the supports; two supports, 2, having one end bent at right angles thereto to fit within the disks, 3; and the opposite ends provided with means to secure the said supports to any desired object.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
ISAIAH H. TAYLOR.
