In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the hinge. Fig. 2 is the part provided with a spring. Fig. 3 is the g part which has noV spring.
In these drawings, B is one part of the hinge, made of sheet metal by cutting a score l in each edge near one end, about one-fourth the distance across the piece, so asto leave the part D with a pivot projecting from it in each direction for the part A of the hinge to turn on, which part A is also made of sheet metal by making two cuts into it at o ne end to form the spring E, which may be out off the le'n required alter the pieces of each side have been bent around the pivots of the piece D, ras shown in Fig. 1.
In this hinge the spring E acts against the part D to hold the hinge. open or c osed, and by bending the parts D and E the spring E may be made tohold the hinge open in such position as may be desired, either at a right angle, or .at an anglelgreater or less than a right angle.
It is believed this hingeis admirably adapted for porte-monnaies for postage currency, bill and paper files, pocket-books, &c.
