SPEGIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 660,405, dated October 23, 1900.
Application filed April 23' 1900.- Serial N6. 13,942. (No model.) i
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, OHARLEY B. TITUS and MONTFORD C. MOMAINS, residing at Little River, in the county of Rice and State of 5 Kansas, have made certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.
' This invention is an improvement in curtain-fixtures, and particularly in fixtures which may be attached to thO'WlIIdOW-SLSh, so
tion A and a sliding section B.' The main.
section A is formed with astrut-brace or plate G, and with a top plate D, such plates 0 and D having at their inner ends perforated lugs O and D to facilitate securing the same in place. The outer end of the top plate D connects with the upper end of the strut-brace O and is notched at d in its opposite edges at its juncture with the upper end of the strutbrace 0, thus forming ways for the guide and retaining flanges on the sliding section and exposing the upper end of the strut-brace at its edges, so that the said flanges may be indented or compressed above the strut-brace to lock the sliding section in any desired adjustment, as will be more fully described herein-.
after. The sliding section is adjustable along the strut-brace of the bracket A, so that it may ate in the notches of the top plate D, as shown. These flanges extend to the upper end of the sliding section and reinforce at such points the edges of such section to give the desired rigidity to the arms formed at such edges of the section B to retain the curtain-bearing portion, as presently described. In'the upper end of the sliding section B we form slits E, spacedapart and producing a central tongue E, which is deflected relatively to the edge portions or bars E ,so that the curtain-bearing portion maybe inserted in the seat formed at the upper end of the sliding section B, as will be understood from the drawings.
In operation the-bracket is secured to the window-sash or otherwise, as desired, and the section B is adjusted along the strut-brace to bring the outer end of the section B to the desired position. When this adjustment is effected, the flanges B may be indented or compressed above the upper outer end of the strut-brace O to prevent the section B from sliding down on the brace-plate, thus locking the section Bin the desired adjustment. The curtain-bearing portion, as shown in Fig. 4, is composed of the sections G and H, having at their outer ends lugs to support the curtain-roller, and one of said plates having at its inner end extensions, inturned at H, to overlap the other section, so that the support can be readily extended'longitudinally to any desired degree.
The invention is simple andcan be conveniently adjusted or secured to the window-sash or other support and set in or out to support the curtain in the desired arrangement.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The bracket having an inclined or'strut 9o brace and a top plate bracing the upper end of the strut-brace and provided with a curtam-supporting section having a plate sliding along said strut-brace and arranged at its edges to embrace the same substantially as 5 set forth.
2. The bracket herein described having an inclined or strut brace plate and a top plate connected with the upper end of the strutbrace and notched at the juncture of such Ioo 10 and an edge notch,substantial1y as described,
and the adjustable section having inturned flanges overlapping and sliding along the edges of the strut-brace and indented above the notch substantially as set forth.
