UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
' ARTHUR O. MALM GREN AND HENRY KLEFFMAN, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
BLIND-STOP.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that we, ARTHUR O. Meme GREN and HENRY KLEFFMAN, citizens of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Tinprovements in Blind-Stops, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to blind stops and has for its object to provide a novel and improved means for locking the slats of the blind in adjusted position. This object is attained by means of a combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device; Fig. 2 is a vertical section onv the line 22 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 8 is a perspective View of the locking device of the blind slats.
Referring specifically to the drawing, 5 denotes a rectangular frame across which extend blind slats 6, the latter having tenoned ends 7 as usual, whereby they are pivoted to the stiles of the frame. The frame is covered on one side by a screen fabric 8, the other side being left open. The
blind slats 7 are connected by a rod 9 so that they may be swung together and thus adjusted to the desired angular position.
To the bottom slat of the blind, on the under side thereof and adjacent to one end, is pivoted a latch 10, the keeper 11 of which is mounted on the stile at the corresponding end of the frame 5. The latch is a flat bar which is pivoted at 12 to the bottom slat. The keeper is a plate which is secured to the face of the stile, adjacent to the inner edge thereof. The inner vertical edge of the keeper plate is serrated, as indicated at 13, the serrated edge projecting slightly from the inner edge of the stile, so that the latch bar may be swung over into engagement therewith. The free Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed October 20, 1913. Serial No. 796,269.
end of the latch bar has a downward bend let to serve as a handle for operating said bar. A spring 15 anchored at one end to the slat, and connected at its other end to the latch bar, serves to'swing the latter toward the keeper plate and thus hold its edge in engagement with the serrated edge of the keeper plate. The latch bar is pivoted to swing toward and from the serrated edge of the-keeper plate. In operation, to adjust the blind slats 6, the latch bar 10 is swung inward to clear the serrated edge 13 of the keeper plate 11,after which the slats may be adjusted, and upon releasing the latch bar, it is swung back by the spring 15 to engage the serrated edge of .the keeper plate, which looks the slats in adjusted position.
The structure herein described provides a simple and efficient locking device which securely holds the blind slats in adjusted position.
\Ve claim:
1. The combination with a blind having pivoted and connected slats, of a latch bar pivoted to one of the slats, and a keeper plate mounted on the frame of the blind and having a serrated edge engageable by the edge of the keeper bar.
2. The combination of a frame, blind slats extending across the frame and pivoted to the stiles thereof, a keeper plate mounted on the face of one of the stiles and having a serrated edge projecting from the inner edge of the stile, and a latch bar pivoted to one of the slats to swing toward and from the serrated edge and engageable therewith.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
