CHASE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a.' nenand improved Lock; and I do hereby declare that the following is An. full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will eneblfe others skilled in the art to make and use 'the seme, reference. being had tothe accompanying drawings, forming part 'of this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents eplan of this invention.

This invention relates to a. lock in which the bit of the key ectson e series of pins or spring stops, which are inserted in a; revolving disk,a.nd which correspond.v in number end position to asimilar numberoi` pin-sA insertedin suitable cavities in the lock-plate. Saidrevolving disk is Aprovided with a. circuler werd which ex'tends clear up to'the innerlock-plete, and preventsthc feeling of the lock, and a. bridge in this werd protects `e, portion ofV thetumblers and pins. The bit of the key acts on the tumblers, but the bolt is thrown by `e. nose projecting from the circumference oi" the revolving disk.

A represents the case of my lock, which is' made of cast iron or any other suitable'material. From the main plate of this ease rises a. 'circuler boss or projection, a, on which revolves :i disk, b, and through seid disk passes?. series of pins, c, corresponding in number and position to spring stops d, inserted in suitable cavities in vthe boss or projection a. The springs which act on the stops d drive the seme up into the sockets of the pins c,

causing the shrinks of the letter to project beyond-the surface ofthe disk b.' If the proper key is inserted, the pins cere depressed il'ush with the edges of their sockets,vdriving the spring stops'ba'ck into their cavities, and said disk can be revolved., From the disk 'b rises a. circuler'w'ard, e,with a slot just wide enough to admit the bit of the key. This slot is' partially illed up by a. bridge, h, which protects a. portion of the tumblers and of the pins e, end a. partition, t', in the ward, impedes still further. the operation of feeling the lock. The bit-of thekey, vafter heving depressed the pins c, turns the disk ,end it elsovacts on the tumblers B. The bolt is thrown by a. nose, f, projecting from the periphery of the disk. I V

Hoving thus described my invention, I claim es new, Vand desire to secure by Letters Patent- ,1. kThe circuler ward e, on thedisk b, substentiallyes and for the purpose described. 2.
