UNITED STATES PATENT ()FFICE.
ANTON MAZZANOVIOH, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
BOTTLE-CAP.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Letters Patent No. 613,288, dated November 1, 1898.
Application filed January 29, 1 8 9 8. Serial No. 66 8,3 '71. (N0 model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ANTON MAZZANOVIOH, a citizen of the United States, and aresident of New York city, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottle-Gaps, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
This invention relates to improvements in bottle-caps; and the object thereof is to supply a device of this class adapted for temporarily closing the bottle-neck, whereby the bottle may be readily opened and closed at intervals. The device is applicable for attachment to the cork of a bottle after the same is drawn, so that the bottle may be tightly reclosed to prevent evaporation, and it is ornamental, inexpensive, and durable.
The invention will be hereinafter fully de scribed, and specifically set forth in the annexed claims.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a vertical elevation of my improved device, showing the two members forming part thereof disconnected from each other; and Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional elevation showing the device in position over a bottle-neck.
In the practice of my invention I provide a metallic cylinder A, which is preferably of a tapering contour and is provided at its lower edge with a bead a. Around the upper inner edge of the cylinder is a screw-thread a, which engages with a screw-plug B, the said plug having a milled head I), forming part thereof. Rigidl y connected to the screw-plu g B and extended downwardly therefrom is a corkscrew B, adapted for engagement with an ordinary cork O, as illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawings. I
.In use this device is calculated to take the place of an ordinary metallic bottle-cap,which simply comprises a cylinder having itsupper end closed and which only prevents dust or insects from entering the bottle, but does not prevent evaporation. By the use of my device after the cork is drawn from the bottle 5e the same time the ornamental external appearance of a bottle-cap is maintained.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A bottle-cap, comprising a cylinder, a 6e removable head, the said head having a corkscrew projected therefrom, substantially as shown and described.
2. A bottle-cap, comprising a cylinder and a screw-plug normally closing one end thereof, said screw-plug having a corkscrew form= in g part thereof and projected inwardly, sub= stantially as shown and described.
3. As a bottle-closing device, the combination of a cylinder and a removable head therefor, the said head having a corkscrew pro jected therefrom, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in pres- 7 5 ence of two witnesses, this 24th day of J anu= ary, 1898.
ANTON MAZZANOVIOITI.
