SPECIFICATION- I invented certain new and useful :improvement in Window Brush; and do hereby declare that the foll'o'wingis` a full and' complete description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a view of the brush. Figure 2, a view of the same with the handle in extension.
Figure 3, a. view of the brush with the handle folded. Like letters of reference refer to like parts'in the'several views. A, iig. 1 is the head or brush, and is made of hair or other suitable material, and constructed in the ordinary way. The shape of this brush is a half circle or sphere; it 'may be of any other shape desirable, and `is fixed to the end of the handle at an angle of about forty-five degrees. This handle consists of two parts 'or'sections, B
C, which are connected to each other by a pivot'joint, D. E is an elastic cord which connects the two sections of the handleator near the joint referred to.
Thus having specified the several parts` of the vWindow brush, the manner of using the same is as follows: The person, in order to use it, stands near the window, on the inside; the brush is then projected out from the window, and section() rested upon the sill, while section B reachesl upward, `and the brush brought against the i' window by the elastic cord above mentioned. The positionof' the brush thus described is shown in iig. 1, the dotted lines, Gr, representing the glass against which the brush is seen to rest.` By Working the horizontal section of the handle C upward and downward, the brush is, thereby made to move in the same direction, at the same time rubbing the brush against the glass; the elastic cord being of sufficient strength topress `it hard enough for the purpose of retrievingv all the dust and dirt; it also assists in preventing thebrush-from falling" i. outward while Ibeing used. The brush being round in shape, it at all times while in use presents a rubbingside l to the glass on turning it round from one side of the Vwindow to the other,.or from square to square, thereby making it unnecessaryto lift it for that purposel When required to use the brush from the outside, the handle, i by means of the joint, can be straightened as shown in iig. 2. A pin iF, is inserted in the lapping of fhg joint by which it isiprevented from doubling back of the cord, but is thereby kept rigid and secure. Should the f handle prove too 'long-'when in extension for -minven'ience, it can ,be folded up, as shown in fig. 3, and the pin on i l being inserted keeps the two parts rmly together ;K in this way it can beused conveniently or for the purpose 1 f of storing away.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Lett-ers Patent, is-
The brush A, jointed handles B C, provided withra locking device, and elastic cord E, arranged subs-tan? tially as and for the purpose set forth. A Y
