IMPROVED BROOM-HEAD.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 57,320, dated August 21, 1866.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER HARROUN, J r., of Onondaga, in the county of Onondaga, in the State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Broom-Head; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon. Figure 1 of the accompanying drawings gives an outside view of my broom-head. Fig. 2 gives an inside view. Fig. 3 gives a "iew of the ring surrounding the neck.
I make my broom-head in two general parts, which are substantially alike in shape, and connect the parts by any required number of hinges 0r joints. Fig. 2 of the drawings gives a view of the parts. The letter a marked thereon refers to the joints by which the parts are connected. The arms of these joints I attach to the parts of the head anywhere between the edges of the head, but so far from the edges as to admit of being inclosed on two sides by the brush of which the broom is made.
The letter 0 in Fig. 1 refers to the edges of the head. The letter f in Fig. 2 refers to the arms and their place of attachment to the head when only one joint is used. The letter I) in Fig. 2 refers to the arms of the joints likewise.
At suitable points upon the edge of the head I place elastic or stationary guides to aid in keeping the brush in position while it is being made fast. These guides are referred to by ALEXANDER HARROUN, J R.
