lJNiTED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANDREIV IV. ROGERS, OF FORT MYERS, FLORIDA.
SPECTACLE-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 585,481, dated June 29, 1897. Application filed October 19, 1896. Serial No. 609,856. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANDREW W. ROGERS, of Fort Myers, in the county of Lee and State of Florida, have invented an Improved Spectacle-Holder, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to spectacle clasps or holders; and its object is to provide a device which will conveniently and securely fasten and hold the spectacles when not in use.
A further object is to provide a holderof such construction as will procure advantages in point of simplicity, inexpensiveness, and general efficiency.
With these objects in view the invention consists of the details of arrangement and construction which will more fully appear hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this application, Figure 1 is a view of the device with the spectacles in position. Fig. 2 is a View of the device with the spectacles removed.
Like numerals and letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both views.
Referring to the drawings, the letter A represents a disk which serves the purpose of a baseplate and has on its rear side, for attachment to the garment, a catch of the usual and ordinary construction. A V-shaped receptacle or holder B is attached to the face a of the said disk and is adapted to secure the bridge-piece 2 of the spectacles tobe held. At the bottom of the said disk is securely fastened the curved support 3. The said support may be of any suitable design, the end thereof turning downwardly and forming the hook 4, which hooks over the temples 5 and holds the said spectacles firmly in position.
The mode of operation of the above device will be readily seen from the foregoing description, the operation being very simple.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patcut, is-- In the herein-described device for holding spectacles, a disk-plate forming a base-plate, a V-shaped receptacle or holder for securing the bridge-piece of the spectacles to be held, a curved support attached to the bottom of the said disk and terminating in a hook, a hook for holding the temples of the spectacles, substantially as set forth and shown.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature 55 inthe presence of two Witnesses.
ANDREW W. ROGERS.
