SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 570,904, dated November 10, 1896. Application filed April 30,1896. Serial No. 589,643. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM R. CHAPIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wyoming, in the county of Luzerne and State of '5 Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Thill-Tugs and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exv act description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it ap- IO pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings,and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to thill-tugs and it con- I sists of a metal clamp made in two parts curved and hung together with a rivet, so that it can be opened to receive the thill and closed on it when desired. 7
Like letters refer to like parts in the differcut drawings.
Figure 1 is a side view of the tug clamped onto the thill. Fig. 2 is a view looking endwise of the thill, showing the construction, the dotted lines showing the lever thrown back to receive the thill, while the full lines show the lever in place to hold the thill.
A represents the thill.
B represents the double hook for carrying the thill, it being made with a loop at the top to buckle to the back-band of the harness,
while the curved lever O is hinged to the double hook B by the rivet D, and the lower end is made with a loop, into which the belly-band is fastened.
Letters Patent, is 5 1. A shaft-tug consisting of the combination of a carrying-hook and a guard-lever pivoted at one end to the shank of the hook and curved outward and downward and means to attach the hook to the back-band and the lever to the belly-band, substantially as described and set forth.
2. A shaft-tug consisting of the combination of a double carrying-hook and a guardlever pivoted at one end to the shank of the 5 5 hook and curved outward and downward and means to attach the upper end of the hook to the back-band and the free end of the lever to the belly-band, substantially as described and set forth.
