PIN-CARD.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 581 ,763, dated May 4, 1897.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, FRITZ Nnuss, a subject of the King of Prussia, Emperor of Germany, residing at Aachen, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pin Cards or Papers, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention consists of an improved pin card or paper which is constructed so as to prevent the pins from falling out.

According to the present invention the pin card or paper is formed in the manner of a shallow tray having a raised strip or rib along its center through which the pins are passed, their heads and points lying in the depressions at either side of the said strip or rib and being prevented from falling out by the edges of the tray-like card or paper. Two such cards may be stamped out, one alongside the other, and a crease formed between the two, so that they may be folded one on the other after the manner of a book or pocket-case, or the two halves may be hinged together in any convenient manner; and in order to render the present specification more easily intelligible reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which similar letters of reference denote similar parts throughout the several views.

Figure 1 is a front elevation of the pin-case when open; Fig. 2, a similar elevation when closed, and Fig. 3 a section on the line 0c 00 of Fig. 1.

In the device illustrated in the drawings the pin-case consists of two halves, each of which is exactly similar to the other, and consists of the body a, having formed along the center or thereabout thereof a raised portion or rib c, and depressed parts I) at either side thereof and being provided all around with an edge or raised ledge d. The pins are retained in the raised ledge or rib c, which they penetrate at about the middle part of their shafts, as shown, and are prevented from falling out by the raised edges of the body a.

If it is required to withdraw a pin from the case, this may easily be accomplished, since the card or paper and the pin-shaft will give sufficiently to enable such withdrawal without inconvenience.

The pin cases or cards may be made of stout paper, card, or paste board. The two halves are advantageously folded together by being creased at their point of juncture.

Although the case orrcard has been described as consisting of two halves, it is ob vious that each part may be used separately and as a whole.

I claim as my invention- 1. As a new article of manufacture, a pin card or case comprising a shallow tray, made of a substantially rigid material having a central longitudinal rib or raised strip to receive the pins, depressions at each side of said rib or raised strip, and elevated edges all around the tray to prevent the displacement of the pins.

2. A pin-card made of a substantially rigid material, and formed of two similar parts joined together to fold as a book, each part comprising a shallow tray having a central longitudinal rib through which pins may be stuck, elevated edges all around the tray and depressions between said edges and the central rib.
