A! INVENTOR *1 5. Patented Anglia, 1918,
TOM HALL, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
CARDBOARD CAIN-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 13, 1918.
Application filed February 5, 1918. Serial No. 215A.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ToM HALL, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Cardboard Can-Holder, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in card board can holders, in which the card board is cut and then bent into a certain form, and a can or other object of merchandise is placed for display purposes.
Figure 1 is a plan view of the blank used for my holder. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same, folded into operative form, and Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the can holder with a can inserted.
10 isa card board back of the holder, with flaps 16 and 17 integral therewith. 11. is a creased or weakened line between back 10 and flaps 16 and 17. 12 is an incised line separating flap 16 from flap 17. 1 1 and 15 are tags cut respectively from flaps 16 and 17.
The method of operation of my device is as follows:
First, the back 10 is bent at right angles to flaps 16 and 17 along the line 11. Flap 16 is then folded across flap 17 until the line 12 of flap 16 coincides with the line 13 on flap 17. Tags 14 and 15 are then set in looking engagement, as shown in Fig. 2.
20 shows a can in the dotted lines inserted in the holder for display purposes, as shown.
I claim: i
A can holder comprising a back, two flaps integral with saidback and each flap having the entire length of one of its sides adjacent to aside of said back and separated therefrom by a weakened line, each of said flaps having a tag cut thereon whereby, when the back is folded substantially at right angles to the flaps, the flaps may be partially folded, one over the other, and the said tags may be brought into locking contact.
TOM HALL.
