IMPROVEM ENT. IN
SAFETY-POCKETS.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 57,072, dated August 14, 1866.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN A. BELL, of Lacon, Marshall county, Illinois, have invented a new and useful Pocket-Safe; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full., clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this speciication.
My invention relates to a device called by me the pocket-safe, for attachment to the lining of a pocket, the same `being provided With an elastic loop for the reception and retention of a porte-monnaie or pocket-book.
Figure l represents the device before attachment to the pocket. Fig. 2 represents the same secured to its place within the pocket. Fig. 3 shows a modification in the manner of applying the elastic cord hereinafter dcscribed. v

While it is easy, by extending the thong A,

Although describing a specic form, I do not propose to confine myself thereto, as various modifications are obviously possiblefor example, the thong may consist of an endless ring, and the point of the pin may be caught in a hook on theplate, after the manner of brooches and breastpins.
I am aware that an elastic band or cord has before been used to secure articles within a pocket; but
I claim and desire to secure by Letters Paterlt- The clasp or pin D, in the described combination with the bar-O and elastic thong A, to admit of the latter being readily applied to the garment or detached therefrom at the will of the user. i
