BICYCLE-SUPPORT.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, FRANOIES B. STEELE, a resident of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bicycle- Supports; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to an improvement in brackets for supporting bicycles, the object of the same being to provide a simple and cheap device adapted to be secured to a wall or other support for holding a bicycle clear of the floor when not in use; and it consists in the details of construction and combination of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described, and pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a view in front elevation of the device, showing a bicycle in position thereon. Fig. 2 is a view in plan of same; and Fig. 3 is a view of the parts when not in use, showing the arms swung around against the wall, the dotted lines in said figure showing another manner of disposing of the arms when not in use.

A represents a wall-frame or support, preferably triangular in shape and made of wire. This frame is provided at its base or lower end and at a point midway its upper end with eyes a for the passage of screws or other devices by which the frame A is secured against the wall or other support.

Formed in the upper corners of the frame A, and in the side arms I), at a point above the lower eyes a, are loops B, which latter are adapted to receive, respectively, the hooked ends 0 and bent ends cl of the arms 0. These arms C are each preferably made from a single piece of wire, the lower ends of the brace-sections 0 of the arms being bent downwardly to enter the lower loops, while the other or upper ends of the wires are bent to form the hooks c. The upper loops rest in planes behind the side bars of the frame, and hence when the arms O are in position the hooks c engage the side bars of the frame and limit the inward movement of the arms toward each other. At the juncture of the arms proper and braces c the wires are bent into hooks D, which latter are twisted laterally slightly so that they rest parallel to each other when the arms are separated to receive a bicycle-frame. These hooks are designed to engage the main frame of the bicycle and support the machine clear of the floor, thus taking the weight of the machine 05 the tires.

WVhen the holder is not in use, the arms can be thrown back against the wall, as shown in Fig. 3, or, if desired, the lower bent ends of the braces can be removed from their loops, and by turning the arm to a vertical position it can be lowered through the upper eye or loop, as shown in dotted lines.

Vhile I have shown the frame as triangular, I would have it understood that I do not limit myself to such a shape, nor do I limit myself to the exact details shown and described, but consider myself at liberty to make such changes as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of my invention.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. A bicycle -holder comprising a frame having eyes for the passage of attaching devices and with upper and lower loops arranged in pairs, and bent arms each having hooks to engage a pair of loops, and with a hook-shaped bearing at its outer end, substantially as set forth.

2. A bicycle -holder comprising a frame made of wire, the said frame having eyes for the passage of attaching device and with loops arranged as described for the attachment of swinging arms, and swinging arms bent as described and removably secured to said frame, substantially as set forth.
