Description

(No Model.) I
' F. F. BRAILLARD.
COMBINED LADY'S PURSE AND CARD CASE.
No. 551,359. Patented Dec. 1'7, 1895.
Wnesses UNITED STATES PATENT ()EErcE.
FRANCIS F. BRAILLARD, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
COMBINED LADYS PURSE AND CARD-CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 551,359, dated December 17, 1895.
Application filed August 2, 1895- To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRANCIS F. BRAILLARD, of Brooklyn, New York, have invented an Improved Combined Ladys Purse and Card- Case, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved combined ladys purse and card-case, which is adapted to be suspended from the waist of the wearer in such a manner that it is counterbalanced and cannot become accidentally detached.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View of my improved combined ladys purse and card-case, showing it in use. Fig. 2 is an end view thereof.
The letter A represents a strap which is creased as at a, and folded upon itself, so that its shorter front section or arm a overlaps the upper portion of its longer rear section or arm (4 To the lower end of the rear section a there is attached a depending case 0, having pockets for the reception of cards and handkerchiefs. To the lower end of the front section a there is attached a depending purse 13, having pockets for the reception of coin or bills. The combined length of the front strap-section a and the purse B is less than the length of the rear strap-section ta so that in this way the purse is placed a short distance above the case 0, and a portion of the strap is exposed beneath the same.
The strap A is folded around a waist-belt 1), upon which it is laterally movable so as to be readily shifted to the proper position. The strap, though thus laterally movable erial No. 557,957. (No model.)
upon the belt, cannot slip'therefrorn longitudinally, as the purse and case depend from opposite sides of the belt, and prevent the strap from being pulled out. In this way the cases B and O, besides fulfilling their usual functions, also act as stops, and moreover serve to counterbalance one another. Thus a safe, convenient, and roomy contrivance for holding the usual articles carried by ladies is produced.
In manufacturing my improved combined ladys purse and cardcase, the back of the case 0 is stitched to the front of the strap, while the back of purse B is stitched to the back of the strap. After the strap is folded so as to overlap, its back will be exposed along the section a, and the purse and case will be brought into alignment and face outwardly, as will be readily understood.
In lieu of folding the strap around the belt D, it may also be folded aronndapin or other retaining device.
What I claim is- The combination of a belt with a folded strap adapted to straddle the same and having arms of unequal length and with a pocket book and purse secured to opposite faces of the strap, so as to project from and open to- Ward the same side of the folded strap, substantially as specified.
FRANCIS F. BRAILLARD.
