Description

fiareiztor V. 1-: HARVEY.
INFANTS CHAIR.
Patented Dec. 3, 1895.
(No Modem V. E. HARVEY.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
VIENA E. HARVEY, OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI.
INFANTS CHAIR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 550,613, dated December 3, 1895.
Application filed March 16, 1.895.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VIENA E. HARVEY, of Kansas City, in the county of Jackson, in the State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Infants Chairs, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to improvements in infants chairs of that class which combines the essential features of usefulness of a chair and commode; and my invention consists of certain features of novelty hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.
Figure I represents a perspective view of the chair With the seat closed. Fig. II represents a vertical cross-section on the line mac of Fig. II. Fig. III represents a perspective view with the seat and foot-rest open. Fig. IV represents a horizontal cross-section on the line y y of Fig. III. Fig. V represents a top or plan view of the chair. Fig. VI rep= resents a detail view of the table.
Similar numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
1 represents the sides, 2 the back, and 3 the bottom, of the chair.
4 represents the seat hinged to the back at 5.
6 represents a foot-rest hinged to the bottom at 7 and adapted to close up, closing the front of the bottom portion of the chair be low the seat.
8 represents strips along the sides to support the seat when closed, and 9 represents a spring-detent to engage and secure the seat when open.
10 represents vertical strips near the front edge of the sides, against which the foot rest closes.
derial N0- 542,0B4. (No model.)
11 represents a hook or similar device engaging a staple or eyebolt in the foot-rest to secure the same when closed.
12 represents a slatted bottom resting upon the bottom of the chair.
13 represents a suitable vessel supported upon the slatted bottomand retained in position by the blocks 14 engaging the bottom of the vessel and the bar 15 adjustable in the grooves 16 in the side bars 17, secured to the sides of the chair.
18 represents a table supported on the chair by the arms 19 entering the recessed supports 20.
I am aware that infants chairs of thisclass are not new and therefore do not claim the same, broadly; but
What I do claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The combination with an infants chair having a hinged seat and hinged foot rest, of a slatted bottom adapted to rest upon the bottom of the chair, a suitable vessel supported upon said slatted bottom, a retaining bar to retain said vessel in position and grooved bars to support said retaining bar, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination with an infantschair having a hinged seat andhinged foot rest, of a slatted bottom adapted to rest upon the bottom of the chair, a suitable vessel supported upon said slatted bottom, suitable blocks engaging the bottom of said vessel to retain the same, a retaining bar, and grooved bars adapted to support said retaining bar, substantially as set forth.
