CURTAIN AND WINDOW BRACKET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 549,620, dated November 12, 1895.

Application filed March 12, 1895.

T0 on whom, it may concern:

:- Be it known that I, ll/IANSFIELD M. WEST, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain and Window Brackets; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to combined curtainpole holders and shade-brackets.

It has for its object to provide a device of this character, which shall be simple of construction, durable in use, and which may be easily applied to a window-frame.

With these objects in view the invention consists in certain features of construction and combination of parts, which will be hereinafter fully set forth.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a window-frame illustrating the application of my invention, and Fig. 2 is a side view of the device removed.

In the drawings, 1 denotes a rod, the forward end of which is formedinto a curvedpoleseat 2, which is strengthened by the bowed portion 3. The opposite end of the rod is pointed, as shown at 4, so as to enable it to be secured in the window-frame. I prefer to make this pointed end in the shape of ascrew, so that it may be secured to the window-frame without the use of tools. A shoulder 5 is secured or formed on the rod, for a purpose hereinafter set forth. I

The shade-bracket 6 is provided at its top edge with a sleeve 7 through which the pointed end of the rod is passed, and has projecting from its rear edge an entering-point 8.

9 denotes a set-screw secured to the outer end of the rod, and is for the purpose of clamping the curtain-pole in its seat 2.

In applying my invention, the inner end of the rod is forced into the window-frame, as

by screwing, and its shoulder engaging the sleeve on the shade-bracket will force its point into the frame. Thus, in a single operation, both the pole-holder and bracket are secured to the frame in operative position.

It will be noticed that the curtain-holder may be removed without disturbing the bracket by simply withdrawing or unscrewing it from the frame and sliding through the sleeve of the bracket.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the operation of my invention will be readil understood. a

Although I have shown and described my preferred construction, I would have it distinctly understood that I do not wish to be restricted to the exact details of construction, and reserve to myself the right to make such changes as may be suggested and which come 6 5 said holder to the window frame, the bracket 7 5 will also be secured, substantially as set forth.

2. The combination with a shade bracket, provided with a sleeve and an entering point, of a curtain pole holder having a pointed screw-threaded end and a shoulder secured 8o thereto, said end bracket being supported on said holder by its sleeve, substantially as set forth.
