Description
E. M. HOSSE.
WINDOW SHADE BRACKET.
APPLICATION EILED MAY 24. 1918.
Patented Mar. 30,1920.
ELLA MAY HOSSE, OF NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE.
WINDOW-SHADE BRACKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 30, 1920.
Application filed May 24, 1918. Serial No. 236,371.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELLA MAY Hossn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Nashville, in the county of Davidson and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in VVindow- Shade Brackets; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, suchas will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in window shade brackets, and the principal object of the invention is to provide a device for securely holding the end of a shade roller in place and against movement.
Another object of the invention is to provide a shade bracket having a spring tongue for bearing against the upper edge of the squared end of the shade roller which tongue prevents the roller from riding up and out of the bracket. 7
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts which will be fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary perspective view of a window casing showing the shade bracket applied thereto.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail side elevation of the shade bracket for holding the squared end of the shade roller, and
Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2 showing the squared end of the shade roller in place.
Referring to the drawing, 1 designates the threaded portion of the shade bracket provided at one end with a casing 2 which has formed integrally therewith a shank 3. This shank is provided at its extreme outer end with a down turned portion which is turned back upon itself to form a seat 4, the outer wall of which extends upwardly as at 5 and curls back as at 6 to form a loop having a spring tongue 7 formed integrally therewith. The tongue 7 normally tends to spring down toward the shoulder formed at the point where the seat 4 joins the shank 3 and is shaped as at 8 to engage the upper edge of the squared portion of the shade roller as is clearly shown in the drawings.
In the supporting of the shade roller at the opposite end the threaded shank is designated by the numeral 1 and is provided that in use the shade roller is inserted loop 9 and then moving the squared end downwardly between the shoulder formed at the point where the seat 4 joins the shank 3 and the spring tongue until the same passes into the position shown in Fig. 3 whereupon the bearing surface 8 of the tongue will seat against the upper edge of the squared portion of the shade roller thereby holding the same in place and avoiding any possibility of the same riding out of the seat'. In view of the foregoing it will be seen that the roller will be firmly held against accidental movement and any danger of its displacement is avoided.
While in the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention, it is to be understood that such changes may be made in the combination and arrangement of parts as will fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. 7'
What is claimed is:
1. A curtain bracket having a shank portion bent downwardly and upwardly to provide a head extending transversely of the shank and providing a pocket at the outer end of the shank, the free end being bent to provide a resilient latch extending into the pocket to engage the upper face of a curtain pintle forced into the pocket under the latch and retain the pintle in the pocket.
2. A curtain bracket having a shank portion having an attaching element at its inner end, the outer portion of the shank being bent to provide a vertically extending pocket and having its free end bent to provide a resilient latch extending into the pocket to engage a curtain pintle forced into the pocket under the latch and retain the pintle in the pocket.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ELLA MAY HOSSE.
Witnesses EVA WOODRUFF, E. E. Hossn.
