i To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, JAMES HowEY, of New Pittsburgh, in the county of Wayne and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Ornamental Tube-Buckle; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and eXact description, and to enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention I will proceed to describe its construction and operation, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this speciication, of which- Figure l, is a view of the buckle. Fig. 2, is a view of t-he buckle and strap connected.
A, in Fig. 1, represent the hole in the double part of the plate. B the tongue. C the notch in which the point of the tongue rests. D, the double plate and near edge.
Fig. 2-A, represent the buckle; B, B, the part of the strap which passes through the tube and returns back. outside, and is made fast by stitches. E, E, E, represents the slides. D, D, the rings. F the hole in the strap which the point of the tongue passes through.
This buckle is made of a piece of plate brass, or other suitable metal, it being formed into a parallelogram tube agreeable to suit the place it is intended to occupy. It is formed so that the ends of the plate pass each other and are laid together enough to make. one side of the tube a double plate D, and near one edge of the double plate of the tube, is the hole A, made for the purpose of receiving the tongue B. This tongue is made of brass wire, or other suitable metal, it being made smaller at the end of the tongue which is bent and secured around the axis between the hole A, and nearest edge.
D, the other end, extends to the opposite side of the tube and rests in the notch C, which is made in the edge of the plate for that purpose.
This buckle is permanently fastened to the strap as represented in Fig. 2, by the st-rap passing through the buckle and returning back outside so as to inclose the double part of the plate shown in Fig. 1 ,by D, and there made fast by stitches, it being made fast to the strap as above described. The other end of the strap is prepared with holes passed through the slides' and rings and brought back through the buckle and the tongue passes through the hole F, and rests in the notch C.
The mode of attaching this buckle, varies according to the place, the strap is intended to occupy.
What I claim as my inventionv and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The construction of a buckle as above described for the purpose of fastening and adjusting straps.
JAMES HOWEY.
