Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES BOSEFIELD, OF WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN TOOTH-BRUSHES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 54,604. dated May 8, 1866.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES RosEErELD, of Washington, District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tooth-Brushes; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
In the annexed drawings, making part of this specification, A and B represent two small brushes, the supercies of which measure about one inch in length and ve-eighths of au inch in width. These two brushes are placed together with the hair facing inward, as shown, and are separated and connected by means of a center partition, C. This partition runs cross wiseof the brush and in the direction of the handle. The brush A is provided with two most closed, so that the teeth nearly touch the partition C. By working the handleand causing the brush to move around in the mouth the hair of the outer brush, A, ,cleanses the outsidesvf the upper aud lower teeth, and the hair of brush,B cleanses the inner sides of the upper and lower teeth, all at the same time.
The handle, being pivoted, readily adjusts itself to the brush as it moves about in the mouth and around the teeth.
Having thus fully described my invention, what l claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The two brushes A and B, connected and used substantially as herein set forth, for the purpose of cleansing the teeth upon both sides at one operation, as specified.
2. In combination therewith, the handle D, pivoted to the brush, substantially as and for the purpose specied.
CHARLES ROSEFIELD.
