IMPROVED lVlOP-WRlNGER.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 52,l36, dated January 23, 1866.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARY P. CARPENTER, of Buffalo, in Erie county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mops; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description ofthe said invention.
The nature ot' my invention consists in coinbining with a mop an arrangement or device for wringing the cloth without the necessity of wetting the hands.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to de scribe its construction and operation.
In theaccompanyin g drawings a perspective view is shown,\vhich represents the invention complete.
A is the handle. B is a frame into which two rollers are made to work. These rollers are marked C and D. They are made of wood and revolve on pivots marked E, F, H, and L, and are drawn together by two springs,which are marked G and I. These springs are made to clasp each ofthe pivots, as will be readily seen in the drawing. J is a handle by which the rollers are turned.
The red dotted lines marked K representan endless apron or the mop-cloth. It is drawn between the rollers, and the two ends are sewed together.
In workingI the water is forced from the cloth by turning' the rollers by means of the handle marked J.
Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination ot' a wringer with a mop.
