No. 537,624. PatenteaApr. 16,1895.
INVENTORS:
P j 93W' ATTORNEY.
'TATES PATENT HARRY F. ZIMMERLIN AND CHARLES G. ZIMMERLIN, OF LYONS, NEW YORK.
DISPLAY APPARATUS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 537,624, dated April 16, 1895. Application filed February 2, 1895. Serial No. 537,147. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that we, HARRY F. ZIMMRRLIN and CHARLES G. ZIMMERLIN, of Lyons, in the county of Wayne, in the'State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Display Apparatus, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings,is afull, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to an apparatus designed chiefly to be used in stores for displaying scytheblades.
The object of the invention is to provide an apparatus which shall be simple in construction, inexpensive in its manufacture and at the same time possess the capacity of holding a plurality of blades in such a position as to avoid cutting a person coming in contact with said blades and which can be easily placed on the rack and removed therefrom when required, and the invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and specifically set forth in the claim.
In the annexed drawings Figure 1 is a side elevation of our improved display apparatus. y
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is a section of the pivotal connection between the standard and. rack. Fig. 4 is an enlarged detail view of the top frame of the rack with one of the Scythe-blades hung thereon; and Fig. 5 is a transverse section of the same.
Referring by reference letters to the drawings, -A- represents a standard which consists of an upright post provided with the legs -ct--awhich constitutes a common form as used in the construction of chairs and tables. Said standard is provided with a socket -ain which is revolubly supported the aforesaid rack on which are suspended the blades -b. The rack consists of the revoluble post -B- stepped in the aforesaid socket and provided on its upper portion with the arms -c-con which is mounted an annular horizontal frame -G- which is the special feature of the invention. Said frame consists of an annular ring provided in its outer periphery with a series of radial slots -d-dto receive the fangs -e--eof the blades. The inner periphery of the ring is formed with a rim -ctin which are formed another series of slots -d-cZ- radially in line with the outer slots thereby arranging the same in pairs. The inner slots are for the reception of the lugs -e-c'- formed on the ends of the tangs. By said arrangement of the slots the blades are held in a suspended position edgewise inward thereby affording safety to a person comingiu contact therewith as `aforesaid.
To the lower portion of the post -B- is secured a lateral support -ffor the lower ends of the blades. Said support consists of a disk formed preferably of Wood against which the blades bear and are confined edgewise inward as aforesaid.
What we claim as ourl invention is In a display apparatus for Scythe-blades, the combination With a suitable support or standard, of a rack consisting of a Vertical post revoluble thereon, an annular frame secured to the upper portion of said post and having two series of recesses or slots arranged radially in pairs to support the blades in a vertically suspended position and a disk secured to the lower portion of the post to support the lower ends of the blades as set forth and shown.
In testimonyA whereof we have hereunto signed our names this 8th day of January, 1895.
HARRY F. ZIMMERLIN. [n s] CHARLES G. ZIMMERLIN. [n s] Witnesses LUTHER S. LAKE, FRED. M. BARCALOW.
