IMPROVEMENT IN PAPER SHIRT-BOSOIVIS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 53,455, dated March 27, 1866.
To all lwhom. it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES M. LEE, of
C Springiield, iu the county of Hampden and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Paper Shirt-Bosom 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, representing a front view of the bosom.
The nature ot' my invention consists in securing a projecting loop or strip ot' cloth or other suitable material ot' proper texture and strength to the middle of the upper edge ot' the bosom, the said strip projecting from the edge and having a button-hole for attaching` the bosom to a button on the neck band ofthe shirt.
In the drawing, a b c d represent the stitched `teams which secure the plait-strips upon the body of the bosom and give the Whole the natural appearance of a linen bosom; and c indicates the button-hole strip or loop attached at the upper edge. It is held between the middle plait and the body or form ofthe bosom by the continuous ornamental stitches of the upper seam, b c, ot' the middle plait.
The upper points or ends of the bosom,which pass around the sides ot' the neck, may have button-holes fand g, and a cord with buttons or knobs on the ends may extend around the back of the neel; and button into the said button-holes to hold the bosom in place around the neck.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The button-hole strip orloop c, when attached to the upper edge of the bosom by the continuous ornamental stitching upon the outer edges ot' the imitation plaits, substantially as and for the purpose setforth.
