and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact descriptionof theinvention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompa nying drawings, specification.

.My invention relates to sprinkling heads for sprinkling wagons, and its object is to provide an improved device of this character, which shall possess superior advantages with respect to efficiency in use.

The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a central longitudinal section of a sprinkler head constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a rear end View of the same. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the bot tom plate remove The sprinkler head, as shown in said drawings, is comprised of three parts, viz., a cast metal frame 1, a cast metal detachable bottom plate 2, and a perforated sheet metal plate 3, through which the Water escapes.

The frame 1 consists of a cylindrical screw threaded portion 4, which is connected with the pipe leading from the wagon, a triangular wing 5 at each side and a semi-circular lug 6-at the top. The edges of these wings and lugs are formed with outwardly extending flanges 7, against which the side and upper edges of the perforated plate 2 abut.

The plate 3 consists of a curved plate of sheet metal, the sides and upper edges of which correspond with the flanges 7. The perforations in this plate are graduated, as seen more clearly in Fig. 2, increasingin size from the sides to the center, so as'to insure an even flow of water.

The bottom plate 2 is removably secured to the lower edge of frame 1, by means of screw bolts 8, which pass through aperturesin said plate and engage with screw-threaded which form a part of this recesses not shown in the lower edge of the frame; This bottom plate which is preferably made of cast metal is formed with diverging sides 9, and a semi-circular rear edge 10. Near this edgelO the plate is formed with a groove 12, following the contour thereof and extending from end to end of the inclined sides. The front upper end of the bottom plate is out off square as seen at 13, and is formed with a projection 14 which fits against the lower side of the frame. This bottom plate is formed with a screw-threaded opening 16, which is closed by a correspondingly threaded plug or cap 17. Byremoving this plug and turning on a full head of water from the wagon the sprinkler head canbe flushed.

The operation will be readily understood.

The sprinkler head is secured to the supply pipe leading from the wagon and provided with a suitable valve, not shown, under the control of the driver, for letting on and cutting off the supply of water. When the water is turned on it will escape through the perforations in plate 3, which by their peculiar arrangement will insure an even flow in all directions.

The bottom plate 2 is detachable for clean- .ing purposes and the perforated plate can be readily removed if desired as it is held in place solely by the flanges ofv the frame and the bottom plate.

One or more of these sprinkler. heads can be employed as found convenient or desir- "able.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is l. A sprinkler head for sprinkling wagons comprising the cast metal frame having a cylindrical screw threaded portion, inclined side wings provided with flanges, and a semicircular lug formed with a flange; the bottom plate detachably secured to said frame having diverging sides and a semi-circular rear portion formed with a groove, and the curved perforated plate the edges of which engage with said flanges and groove; substantially as and for the purpose specified.

2. In a sprinkler head for sprinkling wagons, the combination with the cast metal frame comprising the cylindrical screwthreaded portion, the inclined side Wings, formed with flanges, and the semi-circular lug formed with a flange, of the removable bottom plate provided with a projection at 5 its front edge, and formed with diverging sides and a semi-circular rear portion having a groove, the screw threaded plug fitting in an aperture in said plate and the curved perforated plate, the edges of which engage to with the flanges of the side wings and lug of the frame and the groove in the bottom plate; substantially as described.
