SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 526,842, dated October 2, 1894. Application filed May 19,1894. Serial No. 511,765. (No model.)

To aZZ whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, MORRIS PILGRAM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Billiard-Gue-Tip Fasteners, of which the following is a specification.

The parts of some cue-tip-fasteuers are liable to become separated and misplaced or lost, and in other instances the fastening device is not well adapted to different sizes of ones or the surface of the one is injured by the one tip holder.

In my present device the fasten cr is adapted to various sizes of ones, the surface of the cue is not injured by the fastener, and the clamping ring of the fastener can be used for suspending the fastener when not in use.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation representing my improvement. Fig. 2 is a sectional plan at the line so as. Fig. 3 is a section of the ring at the line 1, y. Fig. 4 is a cross section showing a modification in the form of a clamping ring.

(t represents part of a billiard one, and a the leather or other tip that is to be fastened by glue at the end of said one.

The main frame is represented at b and the same is provided for part of its length with the concave edge I) and with the head 0 at one end which bears upon the tip a. I also form projections 2 3 upon the respective ends of the main frame I) and employ a bar 0 preferably attached by screws 4 5 passing through the bar into threaded holes in the projections 2 3, so that between the bar 0 and main piece I) there is a slot that is almost the length of the bar.

The fastening ring is represented at (Z and the same is made with a notched part 6, a connecting bar (1' and wider portion 7. The notched part 6 straddles the bar c, the connecting bar d bears against the inclined flat edge 8 of the main frame I), and the wider portion 7 bears against the billiard cue.

The bar 0 confines the connecting bar (1 of the ring (Z in the slot between the bar 0 and main frame I) and prevents the ring becoming detached but the ring can be moved freely on the main piece I).

In Figs. 3 and 4, I have shown the portion of the clamping ring (I that bears upon the one as provided with an internal recess into which is secured a piece of leather e or similar material of slightly greater thickness than the depth of the recess. This removes all liability of marking the one in securing the tip.

The fastener is made of cast metal, it is comparatively inexpensive and is very ellicient and will not mark or mar the one while holding a tip in place while the adhesive material is drying.

The clamping ring cannot become detached from the other parts of the fastener, and in consequence of the part d, of such ring being round and passing through the slot between the bar 0, and the body of the fastener, the ring can he slipped to the tip end of the fastener and then turned into line with the slot and used as a suspending device for hanging the fastener upon a hook or nail.

I. claim as my invention 1. A billiard one tip fastener, consisting of a main frame having a concave edge to bear against the one, a head to press on the tip and a longitudinal bar between which and the main frame there is a slot, and a fastening ring surrounding the main frame and passing through the slot whereby the ring is connected to the fastener, and can be used as a suspending device when the fastener is not in use substantially as set forth.

2. A billiard one tip fastener, consisting of a main frame I), a concave edge Z) to bear against the one, a head U to press upon the tip, projections near the ends, a bar 0 and screws for fastening said bar to said projections, a fastening ring (I having a notched part 6 to straddle said bar, and a round connecting bar (1 passing through the slot between the bar 0 and main frame I), substantially as set forth.
