Description

V. T. JOHNSEN.
(No Model.)
GAPOTASTO.
No. 480,429. Patented Aug. 9, 1892.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
VOLKMAR THEODOR J OI-INSEN, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
CAPOTASTO.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 480,429, dated August 9, 1892. Application filed September '7, 1891- Serial No. 405,035. (No model.)

Be it known that I, VOLKMAR THEODOR J OHNSEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Capotastos, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is the capotasto as applied to the guitar. Fig. 2 is a vertical view of the capotasto in all its details. Fig. 3 is a section of the capotasto.
This invention relates to capotastos, and is designed as an improvement in capotastos.
The object of my invention is to provide a simplified device for speedily and securely fastening capotastos. I accomplish this object as illustrated in the drawings, and as hereinafter described.
That which I claim as new will be pointed out in the claims.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
A indicates a suitable bar with slot at countersunk at center to fit thumb-nut c and a countersunk hole I) to fit globular head d.
B indicates a bow made to conform with the guitar to which it is to be applied. The bow B has aglobular head (1, which fits into socket b. It is screw-threaded at one end, having a thumb-nut c with conical-shaped base fitting countersunk slot at.
fandfindicate tubes or balls made of rubber or like material. They are made to slide freely on bow B. By thus having a globular head and globular base on thumb-nut I accomplish an equal pressure on the bar when the capotasto is placed on the strings of the guitar.
WVhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
I. In a capota-sto, the bar A, having a slot a, and countersunk hole Z2, as and for the purpose specified.
2. In a capotasto, the bow B, being screwthreaded and havinga thumb-nut c, with conical base, as and for the purpose specified.
3. In a capotasto, the bow 13, having a globular head (Z, as and for the purpose specified.
4. The combination, in a capotasto, of the bar A, the bow B, and the tubesf, all substantially as set forth.
