CUPBOARD FOR TOILET U'I ENSILS.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent' No. 523,823, dated July 31, 1894. I

To all whom it may concern: I

Be it known that I, CARL EMIL WENDT, of 10 Zossener Street, Berlin, in the Kingdom of Prussia and German Empire, have invented new and useful Improvements in and Relating to Cupboards for Toilet Utensils, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

My invention relates to improvements in cupboards for toilet utensils, and it consists of certain novel features hereinafter described and claimed.

Reterenceis had to the accompanying drawings in which the same parts are indicated by the same letters throughout the several views.

Figure 1 is a sectional view showing the cupboard closed, and the toilet utensils shut up therein. Fig.1 represents a transverse section of the device shown in Fig. 1, just.

above the basin in the said figure. Fig. 1 represents a similar section to that shown in Fig. 1, except that the toilet utensils have been swung out into position ready for use.

c the slop bucket or drain tank, into which the water from the basin is emptied. These three parts a, b, and c, are rigidly attached to one side of the cupboard d, which is constructed like a door, with central pivots 6, thus the door can be swung around about these pivots so that the utensils project into the cupboard or extend out therefrom. In order that this revolving side d may be entirely shut inyby the adjacent sides of the cupboard, these two sides are preferably provided with astrip or beading h as shown in Figs. 1, 1 and 1", which strip or beading covers the crack or joint between the pivoted sides and the contiguous sides. Now, in order that the pivoted side 01 may be revolved through one hundred and eighty degrees, so that theutensils may be swung into the position in which they are ordinarily used, I hinge one of the sides f at its edge opposite to the side (2, as at g and this hinged side is swung back somewhat before any attempt is made torevolve the pivoted side either into the closed or the open position. On this hinged side f I preferably place a towel, as shown in Fig. 1

It will be obvious from an inspection of the said figures, that the herein described device will be of great convenience for'use in offices, and other like places, where it is desired-to keep the toilet utensils ordinarily out of sight.

Having thus describedmy invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-

A cupboard for toilet utensils provided with a side or door centrally pivoted and adapted to swing about its axial center through an Y are of one hundred and eighty degrees, and having the toilet utensils carried by said door or side; and having the two adjacent sides provided with a bead or strip adapted to cover the cracks at either side of said pivoted door or side, and one of said sides being hinged to allow said pivoted door to be swung clear of said bead or strip, substantially as and for the purposes described.
