UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM A. WRIGHT, OF OENTRETON, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR OF ONE- THIRD TO LAFAYETTE PALMER, OF HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
COMBINED ENVELOPE, LETTER-SHEET, CIRCULAR,AND CASING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No..521,902, dated June 26 1,894.
Application filed June 15,1893. Serial No. 477,649. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. WRIGHT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gentreton, in the county of Burlington, State of 5 New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in a Combined Envelope, Lettor-Sheet, Circular, and Casing, which improvement is fully set forth inthe' following specification and accompanying drawings.
My inventionconsists of a combined envelope, letter sheet, circular and casing, the same being formed of one piece of material, as will be hereinafter set forth and claimed.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of an envelope and letter sheet, in open condition; embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a perspective view of the same in closed condition. Fig. 3 represents a perspective view, when the sheet is employed as a circular. Fig. 4 represents a perspective view when the parts are converted into a casing or bag.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
Referring to the drawings: A designates a combined envelope, letter sheet, circular and casing, formed of the sheet folds B, G and D, the separate side flaps E, F, and E, F, and the endflap G.
At suitable points mucilage or other adhesive material is applied, whereby the flaps may be sealed. Perforations are made in the flapswhere the mucilage exists, so that when the envelope is to be opened, the paper or material may be cut or torn at the perforations, thus providing convenient means for such opening, without iuj urin'g the sheet folds B, C, and-D.
The operation is as follows: When aletter sheet and envelope are required, the parts B and O are folded, and the adhesive material of the side flaps E, F, is moistened and pressed against the fold .0. The adhesive sheet, the end flap G is capsed to adhere to the side flaps E and F, whereby a pocket is formed. The folds B and O which are part of acircular, are then slipped into said pocket without being sealed. The flaps E, F, may be inserted between the folds B and O, leaving the sides of the latter open, as shown in Fig. 3, to be in accord with'postal regulations. Again the end flap G and side flaps F, F may be secured by themucilage to the fold O, leaving the folds E, E, open, thus producing a easing into which papers, cards, &c., may be inserted, and afterward closed by said folds E, E, see Fig. 4. I
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The folds 13, 0, and D, the separate flaps E, F, and E, F, on the sides of the fold D, and the flap G on the end of said fold D, the flaps G and E, F, having adhesive material thereon, substantially as described.
2. The folds B, O, and D, the flaps E, E, F, F, and the flap G 011 the end of said fold D, the flaps G, E, and F having adhesive material thereon, and perforated at the place of occupation of said material, substantially as described. 7
WILLIAM A. WRIGHT.
