UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL FROEHLICI-I, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
susPENDER-END.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Iatent No. 509,306, dated November 21, 1893. Application led April 6, 1893. Serial No. 469,280. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, SAMUEL FRoEHLICH,a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements inSuspender-Ends, of which the following is a specification.
The object of-this invention is to provide a suspender-end with adjustable tabs.
The peculiar and novel construction of my suspender end is pointed out in the following specification and claim and illustratedin the accompanying drawings in which- Figure 1 represents an elevation of my suspender end. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section in the plane x Fig. l. Fig. 3 is an elevation of one of the tabs.
In the drawings the letter A designates a ring to which the tabs B C are attached and which is intended to be connected with a suspender trimming in any suitable manner.
For the purpose of connecting the tabs B C tothe ringA I use a flexible bracket D and a pivot E.
In the examples shown in Figs. l, 2 and 3 the flexible bracket D is made integral with the tab B and this bracket is passed through the ring Afaud bent over the inner or upper end of the tab C as shown in Fig. 2 andthen said end is secured in position by the pivot E. This pivot may be hollow or solid. In this case the tab C is free to swing on the pivot E so that its outer end can readily be adjusted toward and from the outer end ot' the tab B or thatv said outer end of the tab C can adjust itself toward and from the outer end of the tab B as may be .required by the movements of the person wearing the suspenders.
I am aware that suspender trimmings have been made in'which both tabs swing on a` pivot (see patent to Altmann, No. 255,404, dated March 28, 1882) but in this case the pivot is secured in a metal plate which forms part of the trimming, so that the swinging tabs can only be used in connection with this l through the ring A and to overlap the inner end of the other tab, and a pivot extending through the bracket and the tabssubstantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
SAMUEL FROEHLICH.
