To all whom it may concern;

Be it known thatI, NILS OHRISTIANSON, of Huntsville,in the county of \Veber and Territory of Utah, have invented certain new and usefullmprovements in Dancing Toys; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates generally to toys, and particularly to that class thereof known as dancing toys.

The object of my invention is to provide a very cheap and simple toy, which can be easily constructed, and operated to move a set of dancing figures.

A further object is also to provide for the movement of a musician figure, and also that of a clown.

A music box is also connected with the toy, and is operated by the same power that moves the dancers, musician, and clowns.

My invention consists in the details of construction and combination of parts, all of which will'be fully described and claimed.

In the drawings forming a part of this specification, Figure 1, is a perspective view of my improved device,'and Fig. 2, is a view showing the internal mechanism.

In carrying out my invention, I employ a box A, of any suitable size, in which is journaled a horizontal shaft B, said shaft being square in cross section. At one end of the shaft B, is mounted a crank O, for driving the device; and at the opposite end is arranged a crank arm 0, which is adapted to move the clown, as hereinafter explained. A vertical shaft D, is journaled'centrally of the box, and projects some distance above the top of the same, and upon the upper end of this shaft is mounted a circular platform E, which carries the so called dancers F, F. Within the box a horizontal friction wheel G, is mounted upon the vertical shaft, said wheel G, contacting with a friction wheel G mounted on the shaft B. By this construc- .'tion, when the crank O, is moved, the platform E, will be revolved.

H, indicates a jointed figure representing a clown, and I, is a rod connecting the figure H, with the crank arm 0 so that as the crank O, is moved and the platform E, revolved, the clown figure H, will be bent back and forth.

K, indicates the musician figure, carrying a movable arm 7a,.which is operated by means of a wire L, which extends down into thebox, and there looped around the square shaft, and as said shaft revolves, the arm is will be movedback and forth, owing to the fact that the shaft is square and the loop round. M, designates a music box arranged in the box A, and operated by means of a belt N, which gets its motion from a band wheel 0, mounted upon the shaft B.

The parts being thus arranged, the operation is as follows: The crank O, is turned, and the shaft B, revolved. This causes the platform E, carrying the dancers F, to revolve, and at the same time the clown is bent up and down by crank O, and rod 1. The musicians arm is moved by the wire and loop, and while all these operations are taking place, the music box is being played by the endless belt.

Having thus described my invention,what I claim is- Y 1. In a toy of the class described, the combination, with a box, and square. shaft, of the figure having a movable arm, and the wire having a circular loop, substantially as shown 8o I and .described.

2. An improved toy of the class described, comprising a box, the square shaft, and friction and band wheels, the vertical shaft, carrying'a friction wheel, and platform having dancers, a jointed figure, and a rod connecting the shaft and said figure, a figure having a movable arm, and a wire and loop connecting said arm and shaft, a music box, and endless belt, all arrangedsubstantially as-shown and described.
