A. BEVBR. GLOVE CABINET.
No. 508,306. Patented Aug. 15, 1893.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALEXANDER BEVER, OF SPOKANE, \VASHINGTON.
GLOVE-CABINET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 503,306, dated Au; 2 st 15, 1893.
Application filed October 5, 1892. Serial No. 447,936- (No model.)
T0 on whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER Bevan, of Spokane, in the county of Spokane and State of Washington, haveinvented anew and useful Improvement in GloveOabinets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists of an improved glove cabinet in which drawers containing different sized gloves may be conveniently and compactly arranged, and in which a glove of any desired size and color may be withdrawn without disturbing any of the other sized and colored gloves within the cabinet.
A practical embodiment of myinvention is represented in the accompanying drawings in Which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of the cabinet. Fig. 2 is a transverse section of the same. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view on the line 00,01; of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a top view of the base of the cabinet; and Fig. 5 shows one of the vertical drawers in front elevation and side section.
My case is constructed in a compact manner and I preferably form it substantially circular in cross section and provide a series of drawers of different lengths radiating from the center and another series of drawers extending lengthwise of the cabinet and substantially parallel with the axis of the same. The part of the cabinet containing the drawers is constructed to revolve upon a suitable base.
In my present arrangement A designates the base of the cabinet and it is provided with rollers a mounted in its upper surface, upon which the case B rests and is adapted to rotate. The case B is held in rotary adjustment upon the base A by means of a post or pivot O uprising from the base. The base is further provided with two or more drawers a which are for the reception of glove-stretchers, powder-boxes and sundries of all kinds used in connection with gloves.
The case B is provided with two sets of drawers D and E radiating from the center to the circumference, the set of longer drawers D extending to the center and the set of shorter drawers E extending to the inter-sections of the longer drawers. The rear of the drawers are pointed and thus fit the shape of the gloves contained therein and also save space within the case 13.
The front of each drawer is provided with a handle or drawer-pull as is usual.
In order that ready access may be had to any particular size of glove and after the drawer or drawers have been removed, that they may be replaced in the proper place or places, I provide two sets of numbers denoting the size or sizes of the gloves, one set secured to the partof the case B adjoining the drawers, and the other set secured to the front of the drawers.
In order to indicate the location of the different colored gloves, I place at the top of each tier of drawers a holder F in which is placed a card indicating the color. This card may also indicate the price of the gloves if found desirable.
In order to accommodate gloves of extra lengths I provide drawers G within one or more of the triangular spaces I-I formed by the tiers of drawers E and D. These drawers G extend vertically within the cabinet and I have shown four of said drawers in the accompanying drawings. The drawers G are held shut by means of a suitable fastening g. The fronts of the spaces II are closed by means of doors I and J, the doors I being in front of the spaces with the drawers G therein, and the doors .I in front of the other spaces. The doors I are glazed with looking glass and the doors J with transparent glass. The spaces H closed by the doors J are used for exhibiting small fancy articles, samples, &c., the transparent glass giving a clear View of the interior of the space. i
In order to cause the case B to rotate noiselessly on the rollers a I secure a strip of leather on the bottom of the casein the path of the rollers. It will thus be seen that I have provided an article which is simple and coinpact and in which ready access may be had to any particular size and color of glove without disclosing any other sized or colored glove.
It will be understood that I may make slight changes in the arrangement of the various parts without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, but
What I claim isand located between the first and second men- A glove cabinet, consisting of a base, a case tioned series, substantially as set forth. having a rotary movement thereon, series of A DER BEVER. drawers at right angles to and meeting at the ALEX N 5 axis of the case, intermediate series of drawers VVitnesses:
located between the first lnentioned series, II. A. ROBERTS,
and a series of drawers parallel with the axis E. R. DENNY.
