Description

(No Model.)
A. B..ROSSON.
HAME 1100K.
No. 499,171. Patented June 6, 1893.
UNITED STATES PATENT GFFICE.
ALPINE B. ROSSON, OF VERNON, TEXAS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO JOHN CECIL CAMP, OF SAME PLACE.
HAM E-HOO K.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 499,177, dated June 6, 1893. Application filed February 9, 1893- Serial No. 6l,675. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALPINE B. RossoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Vernon, county of Wilbarger, and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Hame and Trace Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a hame and trace attachment, having for its object a simple, strong and durable device which can be detached and replaced by the user without special skill or the use of tools when it becomes worn or broken. I attain this object by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which-- Figure 1, is a perspective view of thedevice as it is engaged by the staple of the hame and the trace chain. Fig. 2, is a detail front side view. Fig. 3, is a detail view of the double hooked base. Fig. 4:, is a detail view of the detachable fastening plate. Fig.5,is the detail inside view of said detachable fastening plate.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
A, designates the hame, B, the hame staple.
O, designates the device composed of three parts: the detachable fastening plate 0', the double hooked base 0 and the key G. The detachable fastening plate 0 has a longitudinal slot E to receive the ear D and the key G engages the aperture 9 on the outside of said detachable fastening plate so that it holds the latter in place. Said detachable fastening plate 0' has also a recess 0 separating the main plate from the tongue 0, which unites with and closes the hook 01 forming with it a scarf at c and d. It also has a grooved or beveled shoulder 0 which fits into and closes hook F of the double hooked base 0 The inside of said detachable fastening plate may have depressions as designated by c and c or have a plain surface. The double hooked base 0 may be made either curved or straight. It has two open hooks F and d, both of which are closed and fastened as heretofore designated.
The beveled or grooved edge'of said hook F I friction and give strength.
To attach the device you remove the detachable fastening plate C and engage the hook F in the staple-B and one of the links of the trace chain in the hook d.
When atrace strap is to be used instead of a trace chain a link or a few links of chain must intervene bet-ween the trace strap and the hook d.
The invention is very simple and may be very quickly and easily attached to the hame staple or keeper, and the trace chain or strap.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by LettersPatcut, is
The herein described hame clipor double hooked base consisting of a hook adapted to be connected to the trace, a hook connected to the hame staple and a detachable fastening plate G for closing both hooks. The projection D on the clip or double 'hooked base passing through the slot E in the fastener and locked by the key G substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereunto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
ALPINE B. ROSSON. [L. S.]
