UNITED STATES PATENT OF ICE;
ABRAM ALEXANDER, J R., OF ALLEGHENY, PENNSYLVANIA.
CUFF-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 496,841, dated May 9,1893. Applioationfiled November 5, 1892. Serial No. 451,054. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ABRAM ALEXANDER, J r., a citizen of the United States, residing at Allegheny, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain newand useful Improvements in Gulf-Holders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figures 1 and 2, are perspective views of a cuff holder embodying my invention.
My invention relates to means for securing or holding cnifs in position and the same consists of the improved cnfi holding device hereinafter fully described and claimed.
To enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same I will now describe its construction and indicate the manner in which the same is carried out.
In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated my improved holder as composed of a single piece of wire which is bent to form a body portion A, a hook or keeper portion 0 and a pin 0. The body consists of two members a at extending parallel with each other near each end portion and having its central portion bent outwardly to form the opposing semi-circular or other shaped portion b, the two opposing bent portions forming an opening into which is received the shank of the button which holds the cuff in place. The member a of the body portion is extended at one end to form the pin 0, which is bent under the middle portion of the body and returned to the opposite end so that its point or free end may be safely seated upon or within the hook or keeper 0 formed by the wire at that point. As this pin traverses the center of the body it lies just below the center of the opening formed in the body portion and forms a rest for the button as shown, the shank of the latter being confined within the opening in the body portion with the head of the button projecting so that the cuff may be readily buttoned in position.
This device is to be secured to the lining of a coat sleeve for the purpose of holding linen, celluloid or other cuffs, and carries its own button. It may be adjusted to suit any length of cuff, by simply changing its position on the lining, as by moving it to ahigher or lower place in the sleeve.
. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A cuff holder consisting of a single piece of wire bent to form abody portion of two member at a which have their central portions bent in opposite directions at 6'1) to form a.
