SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 492,530, dated February 28, 1893.

To all whont it may concern.-

Be it known that I, CHARLES M. FINoH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Toledo, Lucas county, Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Wash-Stand and Table, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a combined Washstand and table, and its object is to provide a wash-stand which when closed shall exactly resemble a common table.

The further object of my invention is to provide such combined wash-stand and table with a ewer, a wash-basin and a slop-jar of the form and arrangement hereinafter described, and adapted to be used in connection with and as part of my wash-stand and table.

I attain these objects by means of the devices and arrangement of parts hereinafter described, and shown in the accompanying drawings, made part hereof, in which Figure 1, is a vertical, sectional elevation of my device, on line 00 at, Fig. 2, which is a plan View of the same, with the table-lid tilted upward and backward.

E is the floor of the space usually occupied by the drawer of the table. This space I utilize for the wash-basin, ewer and slop-jar.

f, the ewer, is a vessel of glazed earthenware or other suitable material, shaped in vertical cross-section as shown in Fig. 1. The cover f, of this vessel, is formed preferably integral with the vessel, and is provided with longitudinal slot f forminga convenienthandle for the ewer and an opening through which water may be supplied, and through which the hand may be passed in washing out the ewer. The Wash-basin g is provided with an indentation g in its rim coinciding with and adapted to receive the spout f of the ewer, when the ewer is tilted. The washbasin also has projecting from its rim a mouth or spout, through which the contents of the basin are emptied. The side of the basin having the mouth g is pivoted or hinged at g upon cross-piece 9 forming part of the frame of the table, and upon this pivot the wash-basin may be tilted so that its contents will run into slop-jar it over which the mouth I provide the basin with a handle g to facilitate the tilting of the basin. The slop-jar h is an oblong, rectangular vessel, open at its top, composed preferably of glazed earthenware, provided with handles it and having a suitable cover. (Not shown in the drawings.) The remaining part of the space bounded by the rail B may be occupied by a tray for brush, comb, towel and soap, as shown in Fig. 2.

The operation of my device is obvious. The table-top being down, the article presents the appearance of a common table. On raising the lid, conveniences for washing are disclosed. By tilting the ewer on its pivots, clean water is poured into the basin, and by tilting the basin on its pivot, its contents are caused to flow into the slop-jar. The basin and ewer may be cleansed without removing them from their places, and the slop-jar may be lifted from its place to be emptied and cleansed.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A combined wash-stand and table, comprising in its construction a table, a lid pivotally attached thereto, a Wash-basin, ewer and slop-jar arranged in the same horizontal plane within the drawer-space of said table, pivots on said ewer, adjacent to the washbasin, whereby the ewer may be tilted to empty into the wash-basin, and pivots on said wash-basin, adjacent to the slop-jar, whereby the wash-basin may be tilted to empty into the slop-jar, all substantially as shown and described for the purpose specified.
