My invention has reference to improvements in stands for maps, charts and the like, and has for its object to provide such a device which shall be simple in construction, easy to manipulate, and inexpensive to manfact-ore.
My invention consists in the construction, relative arrangement and operation of the several parts constituting my improved stand, all of which will hereinafter be fully and clearly described and specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings which form a part of this specification Figure 1 shows my improved stand in front elevation; Fig. 2 side elevation; and Fig. 3 a detail enlarged.
Referring to said drawings the reference letter a denotes one of the parts or sections, and b is the other section both of which are formed from a heavy grade of wire and bent to the desired shapes as will presently appear.
0 is a set screw for holding the sections together in their relative positions. The section a is formed from a single piece of wire bent to form the hook cl at its upper end, the circular loop or eye e, and the foot f. The section b is also formed of a single piece of wire, and has a hook g and eye 72. similar in construction and relation to those described with reference to section a. The lower part of this section b is bent or shaped to form two legs 2' 'L' of double wire having feet j j, and which with the leg of section a. form a tripod support. The threaded shank c of set screw 0 is passed through the eyes 6, h, and on the end thereof is screwed a binding nut is which operates to rigidly hold the sections in proper relation. The head of the set screw and the nut are provided with ears which permit the manipulation thereof by hand. The construction employed readily permits the adjustment of the sections to or from each other according to the size of map or chart to be mounted, and the height desired.
1 claim:
1. An adjustable stand for maps, charts, or similar articles comprising two sections, each formed from a single piece of wire, said sections having loops formed thereon, a set screw passing through the loops serving to unite and regulate the adjustment of the stand substantially as set forth.
2. An adjustable stand for maps, charts, or similar articles comprising two sections, each formed from a single piece of wire, said sections having loops and hooks formed thereon a set screw passing through the loops serving to unite and regulate the adjustment of the stand, and legs formed in the manner herein specified, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
