To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J ULIUs H. ABRAM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Akron, in the county of Summit and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Photograph-Display Racks, of which-the following is a specification.

My invention has relation to improvements in folding racks or frames for receiving and exhibiting photographs, advertising-cards, and similar devices; and the object of my invention is to provide a new and unique rack of attractive design and capable of simultaneously exhibiting a few or a great number of photographs or cards and capable of being rendered a handsome article of home decoration.

To the aforesaid object my invention consists in the peculiar and novel construction, arrangement, and combination of parts hereinafter described, and then specifically pointed out in the claim, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of thisspecification.

In the accompanying drawings, in which similar reference-numerals indicate like parts in the different figures, Figure 1 is a front elevation with one of the front leaves open; Fig. 2, an edge elevation of the open leaf, looking from the right of Fig. 1; Fig. 3, a horizontal section of the right half of my apparatus at the line a: m of Fig. 4; Fig. 4, a front elevation of the right half of my apparatus with the first and second leaves open and the third leaf partly open, disclosing a part of the back; Fig. 5, a horizontal section of the right half and parts of the leaves in the position indicated in Fig. 4 and at the line X X; Fig. 6, an elevation of one of the picture slides, and Fig. 7 a horizontal section of the picture-slide at the line Z Z of Fig. 6.

The apparatus is mad e, preferably, in fanciful form of attractive design-as, forinstance, in the accompanying drawings-t0 present the appearance of the front of an ornamental cottage, the supporting part consisting of a frame having narrow side walls 1, united at the top by a cross-bar 2 to represent the front of the roof and at the bottom by another cross-bar 3 to represent the foundation, with front steps 4 ascending to the front door, and

ing-angle strips 6 are two front leaves 7, constructed to represent when folded together the front of the cottage and having imitation doors and windows. The leaves 7 are made of two oppositely-disposed panels separated into horizontal spaces by interposed strips, (see Fig. 2,) the front panel having openings for the places of the imitation windows and molded to represent window-casings and the inner panel having similar openings similarly molded and which register with the openings in the front panel. These openings constitute display-openings, through which the photographs are shown, and to use them I employ a light slide 8, which is preferably of tin or otherlightsheet metal,having inner grooves to hold the edges of the photographic cards and which, having two photographs placed in each partition, back to back, is pushed into one of the spaces in the leaves 7, the relative size and arrangement of these parts being such that when the slide is pushed into a space in the leaf the photographs therein will be brought in front of the openings in the front and back panels thereof.

Back of 'the front leaves 7 are two similarlyconstructed leaves 9, hinged to an extension of the side 1 or an auxiliary strip 10 and arranged to receive similar slides 8. Back of the second leaf 9 is a third leaf 11, constructed in a similar manner to the leaves 7 and 9, and also hinged to the auxiliary strip 10 and also arranged to receive similar slides 8.

In operation slides containing photographs or advertising cards being inserted in all the spaces of the several leaves and all the leaves closed, the apparatus presents the appearance of a cottage with a photograph in each window, as shown at the left of Fig. 1. By opening the front leaves the inner face of the leaves 7 and the front of the leaves 9 will be presented, showing the photographs in each, as shown at the right of Fig. 1, and asimilar presentation is effected by opening the leaf 9 relatively to the interior of 9 and the front of 11 until, when ll is opened, the photographs on the interior areshown and the background mirror 5 01; other desired surface, as a picture, is presented.

By this apparatus I am enabled to provide an ornamental piece of furniture susceptible of holding and displaying a great number of photographs or advertising cards, readily accessibly and easily, by means of the slides S, interchangeable.

It is not intended by this specification to limit the number of leaves in the apparatus nor the number of openings in each, as these may be increased or diminished as desired, nor do I desire to confine the invention to the design of a cottage, as this may be varied to suit the taste of the constructor or purchaser; but
