To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LOUIS GREENWALD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Leadville,in the county of Lake and State of Colorado, have invented a new and useful Necktie- Fastener, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to necktie-fasteners.

The object of the present invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive device designed to be arranged within a necktie to clamp the neckband thereof and capable of being operated by external pressure upon the necktie to release the neckband.

The invention consists of the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a necktie provided with a fastener constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the necktie-fastener detached. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view. Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional view.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, 1 designates a necktie-fastener constructed of a single piece of sheet metal bent to form an approximately-rectangular casing, which is composed of sides 2, 3, 4:, and 5, and is secured together by a projection or point 6. of the side 5, engaging a slot 7 of the side 2. The side 2 of the casing has its lower portion formed into a spring 8, which is separated from the side 4 by a slit, and is provided at its free end with a flange 9, having an opening 10. The upper end of the casing is open, and the side 3 is provided at the lower end of the casing with an angular extension 11, which consists of a portion 12, arranged across the lower end of the casing, and a plate 13,interposed between the longitudinal edges of the sides 4 and 5 and the inner face of the spring 8 to complete the casing. The end portion 12 of the angular extension 11. is pro vided with a rectangular opening to enable the neckband of the necktie to be passed through the casing, and the metal cut to provide the opening forms flanges 14 and 15 at the longitudinal edges of the opening. The flange 9 of the spring Sis bent inward and reimprovements in ceives the projecting flange 14:, and is adapted to clamp the neckband between it and the flange let, and the neckband can be readily released by external pressure upon the tie, which causes the opening of the flange 9 to be arranged opposite the opening of the end portion 12 of the angular extension 11. The upper end of the casing is provided with perforations 16 to facilitate the attachment of the fastener.

It will readily be seen that the necktie-fastener is simple and inexpensive in construction and can be readily made from a single piece of sheet metal, and is adapted to be conveniently attached within the body of anecktie and is capable of being operated by ex ternal pressure on the tie.

What I claim is- 1. A necktie-fastener consisting of a single piece of metal bent to form an approximately-rectangular casing, consisting of the sides 4 and 5, the side 2, secured to the side 5 and having its lower portion separated from the casing and forming a spring 8, provided at its free end with a flange bent inward and arranged at the lower end of the casing, and the side 3, arranged opposite the spring and provided at its lower end with an extension interposed between the spring and the free edges of the sides 4 and5 and completing the casing, substantially as described.

A necktie-fastener consisting of a single piece of metal bent to form an approximately-rectangular casing, consisting of the sides 4 and 5, the side 2, having its lower portion separated from the casing and forming a spring, provided at its free end with a flange 9, arranged atthe lower end of the casing and having an opening, and the side 3, arranged opposite the spring and provided with the angular extension composed of the plate interposed between the spring and the free edges of the sides 4: and 5 to complete the casing, and the end portion 12, provided with an opening, substantially as described.
