SCRUBBING-BRUSH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 483,128, dated September 2'?, 1892.
Application filed November 1.0, 1890. Serial No. 370,946. (Model.) Patented in Austria-Hungary October Z2, 1890; in France October 25, 1890,1lo. 209,121; in Belgium October 27, 1890. To a/ZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that We, JOHANN JACOB BEIL- MANN and ERNST LEVI, subjects of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Mannheim, in
A the Empire of Germany, have invented a new and Improved Holder for Scrubbing-Brushes, (for which we have obtained a patent in Germany, No. 57,323, bearing date November 11, 1890; in Austria-Hungary, Tom. 41, XXV, Fol. 561, 404, bearing date October 22, 1890; in Belgium, No. 92,502, bearing date October 27, 1890; in France, No. 209,121, bearing date October 25, 1890; in Great Britain, No. 17,269, bearing date October 28, 1890, and in Switzerland, No. 2,989, bearing date December 9, 1890,) of which the followingis a specification.
The object of this invention is a device for fixing scrubbing-brushes to the stick, which is so arranged as to adapt itself to variable thicknesses of stick, as well as to variable widths of the scrubber-hole.
In the annexed drawings, Figures 1 and 2 are longitudinal sections of the device. Fig. 3 is a cross-section of the same.
The improved device essentially consists of two tube-halves A and B, which are united or kept together by a loose pin a, passing through the two halves and having knobs at both eX- tremities. One of the two halves is shorter than the other toward the bottom end and has connected with it by a hinge b another tubehalf O, extending as far as the largest half A downwardly and adapted to be moved away in Gerfrom the latter by means of a screw c, having its female thread in the said largest tube-half A. To connect the scrubber with the stick, the two tube-halves A C, adjoining each other at the bottom, are introduced into the scrubber-hole, said halvesbeing provided with teeth on the outside. At the same time the stick is put between the two tube-halves B A, facing each other at the top, which halves are provided above with inner teeth placed on the surfaces lying opposite each other.
It is evident from the above description that by pressing apart by means of the screw c the two tube-halves A C, introduced into the scrubber, the outer teeth of these halves are forced into the wood of the scrubber-hole. By the same screw-pressure the upper portion of the hinged tube-half Bis approached to the largest tube-half A, thereby clamping fast the stick. i
What we claim is- In a holder for scrubbing-brushes, the combination of the tube half A with the tubehalves B and C, connected by the hinge b, the screw c, and the loose pin a, uniting the tubeialvles A and B, as and for the purpose set ort JOHANN JACOB BEILMANN. ERNST LEVI.
