.a commode or to any suitable device, which forms a convenient seat upon which a person may sit comfortably to use the vessel, which may be adjusted to suit people of different heights, and which is especially adapted for the use of sick people and children.

To this end my invention consists in certain features of construction and combinations of parts, which will be hereinafter described and claimed.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar figures of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views. Y

The device is provided with a main rectangular frame 10, which has hollow open-ended side pieces 1l, the outer sides of which are slotted longitudinally, as shown at 11 a, to permit the side pieces to receive and slide upon the bars 12. The bars 12 have a reduced middle section to enable them to iit the slots in the side pieces 11 and in the slideways 14, as shown at 13 in Fig. 2. The slideways 14 are secured by pins 15 to parallel cleats 16, which are secured to a support 17, the support in this case beingthe inside of the commode 18, although thecleats may be secured to any convenient support. exactly similar to the side pieces 11, and the bars 12 are dovetailed into both slideways and side pieces, so as to hold all the parts together, but loosely enough to permit the parts 4to slide in relation to each other.

The bars 12 are provided on opposite sides with longitudinal channels 19, which open from opposite ends, as shown in Fig. 4, and which at their ends terminate at the shoulders 20. YThese channels are adapted to re- .ceive pins 2l, which project through holes 22 leg 24 is provided with an upper section 25,

Pivoted on the lower section is a pawl 28, which projects through an opening in the sleeve, and the inner end 29 of the pawl by entering one of the notches 26 prevents the section 25 from dropping in the sleeve 27. The pawl is normally pressed into the notches by a spring 30, which is secured to the free end of the pawl and presses against the sleeve.

Suspended centrally from the frame 10 is a flat-bottomed basket 31, which is Apreferably of wire, and which is adapted to hold a cham.

The seat is composed of two removable' boards 34, which cover the top of the frame 10, and which have a central hole to permit the use of the vessel 32 when the latter is in the basket.

Vhen the device is to be used by children the side pieces 14 and the frame connected therewith are supported on the lower end of the cleats 16, and when the device is to be used by grown people the side pieces are placed higher up.

To use the device, the frame 10 is withdrawn from between theoleats 16, and the Outward movement of the frame is limited by the pins 21 striking the shoulders 20, which movement may be regulated by adjusting IOC said pins in the holes 22. When the frame is pulled out, the legs 24 swing into avertical position, so as to support the frame, and the legs may be adjusted, in the manner described, to suit the height of the frame. The

3. A device of the character described, comprising an extensible frame held to a sup port, legs secured to the free end of the frame, a Vessel-holding basket suspended from the frame, and removable seat-boards to cover the frame, substantially as described.

4. A device of the character described, comprising parallel cleats secured to a support, slideways secured to the cleats, an extensible frame held to slide in the slideways, legs secured to the free ends of the frame, a lvessel-holding basket suspended from the frame, and removable seat-boards to cover the frame, substantially as described.
