SASH-FASTENERI SPEGIFCATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 464,413, dated Deceniber 1, 1891.
Application filed August 17, 1891.

Be it known that I, ALICE ARMSTRONG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Noblesville, in the county of Hamilton and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sash-Fasteners; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, suoh as Will enable others skilled in the art to which it apperta'ins to malte and use the same. V
Myimprovement in sash-fasteners will first be described in connection with the drawings, and then pointed out in the claim.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective view showing my invention applied; Fig. 2, a vertical section thereof, and Fig. 3 a detail perspective view of the cam.
In the drawings, A represents the look-case, whose onter metallic plate et has an arc slot a, through which protrndes the stud b of 'a cam B, fulcrumed at 1') on the inside of a platespring 0. One end of the spring is made fast at 0 to the plate a while the other end is bent t0 a horizontal plane, wher it is fastened to the latch or bolt D, which passes throng:h a horizontal slot a in the plate a By this construction of spring, arrangement of the cam with respect thereto, and the car rying of the arc slot a into a horizontal plane with the cam-pivot b or below said plane the cam holds the latch or bolt unlocked and al- Serisfl No. 402.819. In order to facilitate the retention of the bolt after it has beeri thrown back, I may make the fiat face 19 on the oam; but it is not at all necessary.
This look may be let into the sash or window-frame, while the part in which the look is not placed may be provided with notches E to receive the bolt, or the sash maybe held stationary by the friction or pressure of the bolt.
I may make the bolt and spring of one piece of metal plate or of wire.
Having thns deseribed all that is necessary to a full understanding of my invention, What I claim as new, and cleSire to protect by Letters Patent, is
A sash-fastener consisting of the caseA, having the arc slot a, the cana B, having stud b, protruding through said slot, and a fulcrum or pivot I), and the plate-swing O, arrangcd on a curve around the cam, fastened at the lower end to the case, and provided on top with a horizontal bolt I), the latter passing throngh the case-slot a as shown and described.
