SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 462,667, dated November 3, 1891.

Application filed May 27, 1891. -Serial No. 394,274. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES F. GOLDBECK,

a citizen of the United States, residing` in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Baggage-Owne1s Indicators, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specdication and accompanying drawings.

My invention consists of an attachment to a baggagecheck, whereby the owner of the baggage may be indicated, as will be hereinafter set forth.

Figure l represents a perspective view of a baggage-ownefs indicator embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a perspective view of the parts in separated condition. Fig. 3 represents a longitudinal view of a detached portion.

Similar letters ot' reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.

Referring to the drawings, A designates a baggage-check, which, excepting the feature of myinvention applied thereto, is of ordinary construction, said check having a strap for attachment to a trunk, satcheLor otherpiece ot' baggage, asusual.

B designates a tube, which is firmly secured to or formed with said check A and is 3o closed at the inner end and open at its outer end,so as to receive the tube C, the latter thus being telescopically fitted to said tube B, the proper parts of the tubes being threaded, so as to be screwed together, and thereby retain the tube C in position.

D designates a piece of paper or other suitable material, on which is printed or other- Wise marked the words Owners name and address,7 with spaces foradding such name and address or other information, the piece being 4o rolled and inserted into the tube C, it being noticed that one end of the roll projects beyond the end of the tube, so that the same may be readily seen and conveniently grasped,so that it may be removed when so desired. It will be seen that when baggage is lost, undelivered, unclaimed, tbc., the tube C is unscrewed or removed by the party in possession, whereby the piece D is apparent or attention directed to the same. IYhen said 5o piece is unrolled, the name and address of the owner of the baggage is exposed, by which provision communication may be made with the owner or representative, so as to restore the article in question.

Attention may be directed to the contents of the tubing or casing by an inscription ou the outside thereof, the same in the present case being the words Name inside.

A baggagecheck consisting ol a metal plate,

a tube having one open and one closed end secured thereto, and a removable tube fitted 65 to the stationary tube and carrying within it a piece of material to receive a name or other identifying means, said tubes having means for locking them together, the parts named being combined substantially as de- 7o scribed.
