' The present invention has for its object to provide a simple and effective device for the attachment to the handles of brushes, dusters, brooms, and other like articles where the handle thereof is not sufficiently ilong for the spe` cial purpose for which the article is to be used, and can by myimproved device be extended in length for temporary use 3 and the invention consists in providing a grooved handle-extension to form a seat for the end of the handle to which it is to be attached, and a spring wire holder for retaining the extension and handle together, substantially as Shown in the drawings, and hereinafter described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, A represents the handle-extension, which may be of any desirable length and thickness and of wood or other suitable material, and has at one end a groove a to form a seat for the end of the brush or other handle to which it is to be attached. A spring-holding device is connected to the Ahandle-extension A, and consists of a wire of suitablellength, which is bent so as to form double loops b c, said loops encircling the handle-extension A, and are of sufficient size to allow the brush or other handle to pass under them in attaching the two together. The wire between the loops is held together by a suitable coupler d, which may be of wire or of any other preferred form or construction, and the extremities of the wire meet and are joined together in any wellknown and preferred manner, so as to form a lever-hook e, by which the loop c may be raised or expanded to allow theinsertion under said loop of the brush or other handle B.

The spring-holding device, which is represented at O, may be made of spring-wire of any preferred thickness, and it is simply connected to the handle-extension by passing the grooved end of the extension through the double loops hereinbefore described.

The device is simple, durable, and easily applied and operated, and when the end of the brush or other handle is seated in the groove of the handle-extension, as shown in Fig. 3, the wire loops will form a perfect clamp to firmly hold the two together.

Having now fully described my invention,

what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,is-

l. The combination, with a grooved handleextension, of a spring-holding device consisting of wire bent to form double loops which encircle said handle-extension, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

2. The combination, with a grooved handleextension, of a spring-holding device consisting of wire bent to form double loops and the extremities of the wire joined and terminating in a lever, substantially as and for the purpose described.
