H. E. SQUIRES.
ATTAGHMENT FOR STOVES.
No. 457,751. Patented Aug, 11,1891.
PETER-5 co., vnomlmm, vusmncrou, n. c.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HATTIE EMELINE SQUIRES, OFLEAVENWORTH, KANSAS.
ATTACHMENT FOR STOVES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 457,751, dated August 11, 1891.
Application filed March 14, 1891.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HATTIE EMELINE SQUIRES, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Leavenworth, in the county of Leavenworth and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to improvements in attachments for stoves, and while especially adapted for use in connection with gas, gasoline, and oil stoves may be used on other stoves, if desired.
The object of my invention is a provision of a simple and inexpensive attachment for stoves by means of which victuals may be cooked or kept in a warm state after being cooked and upon which bread may be baked.
To attain the desired objects the invention consists of an attachment supported directly above the stove to receive the heat therefrom, having a shelf for supporting the articles to be warmed or cooked, and provided with suitable pipes for carrying off the vapors and products of combustion.
The invention further consists in the details of construction and adaptation of parts, substantially as herein illustrated, described, and specifically defined by the claims.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of an attachment embodying my invention in position upon a stove, and Fig. 2 represents a sectional view thereof.
Referring by letter to the drawings, A represents the top of a gas-stove of the ordinary and well-known construction, in connection with which I employ my attachment.
B designates the legs or frame, which support the shelf 0 above the stove and are provided with fastenings B, said shelf having the depending sides and ends D, forming a receptacle under the shelf to receive and concentrate the heat from the stove. Communicating with the shelf are the heating-pipeslil,
Serial No. 385,011. (No model.)
which lead to the horizontal pipe F, with which communicates the pipe G, leading to the flue or chimney.
The articles are placed on the shelf 0 and are warmed or cooked by the heat from the stove circulating againstthe shelf and through the pipes D and F, eifectivelyheating or cooking the food, as may be desired.
If desired, an oven or cover G may be employed and used for cooking, as will be readily understood and appreciated by all skilled in such matters.
It will be evident that my device will perform its function in an efficient manner, and by reason of its simplicity and cheapness is a practical and useful device.
I claim as my invention 1. The hereindescribed attachment for stoves, consisting of the shelf supported above the stove to receive the articles, the series of vertical pipes leading from the shelf, and the horizontal pipe connecting the vertical pipes, substantially as and for the purpose described.
2. The herein described attachment for stoves, consisting of the supporting-frame, the shelf supported thereon, having the depending sides and ends to form a heat receptacle or concentrator, the vertical pipes leading therefrom, the horizontal pipe connecting the vertical pipe, and the escape-pipe leading therefrom, substantially as described.
3. The hereindescribed attachment for stoves, consisting of the supporting-frame, the shelf resting thereon, having the depending sides and ends for the purpose stated, the short vertical pipes leading from the shelf, the horizontal pipe connecting the vertical pipes, and the cover adapted to rest on the shelf and surround the pipes to provide an oven, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I attix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HATTIE EMELINE SQUIRES. Witnesses:
