Description

F. ENOS.
Attachment for Cooking-Stove. I No 163 858 Patentedlunel,1875.
ggnlesses Inventor I (/7 ha THE GRAPHIC COJHOTO LITH.39&4I PARK PLMJEJl-Y.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK ENOS, OF MINERAL CITY, NEVADA.
IMPROVEMENT IN ATTACHMENTS FOR COOKlNG-STOVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 163,858, dated June l, 1875; application filed April 2, 1875.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRANK Enos, of Mineral City, White Pine county, State of Nevada, have in vented an Improved Dish-Back Attachment for Stoves; and I do hereby declare the following description and accompanying drawings are sufficient to enable any person skilled in the art or science to which it most nearly appertains to make and use my said invention or improvement without further invention or experiment.
My invention relates to a rack or rim attachment for stoves and ranges for the purpose of supporting dishes of cooked victuals in close proximity to the stove, in order to keep them warm.
In order to more fully illustrate and explain my invention, reference is had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which the figure is a perspective view of my attachment,
Let A represent a stove, range, or other cooking-furnace. B is a rack or shelf which I attach to this stove, ran ge,,or furnace in order to support dishes, pans, or other utensils on which it is desired to keep the victuals contained in them warm.
This rack consists of a metal rim or band, which is made somewhat larger than the top of the stove or range and shaped so as to conform thereto. One side, B", of this frame rests upon the top of the stove or range, passing across just in front of the pipe or draft-hole c in rear of the stove-holes. This side extends beyond the sides of the stove, and the rim B extends around the residue of the stove-top at the distance of an inch or two from its edge, and on a level with the same. Hooks F are used for securing the ends of the rear side of the frame to the stove-top, as shown. The I front side of the rack or frame is supported by legs D D, which rest upon the stove-hearth, or, in case the attachment be made to a range, the legs may be extended down to the floor.
The main feature of my invention is the rim B, supported in the position above described, so that the dishes, pots, or other culinary vessels can be removed from the stove-holes and placed with one edge upon the rim B, while the other edge rests upon the stove-top, or so that they will rest entirely upon the rim, for the purpose of keeping the contents of the dishes, pots, or other vessels warm.
- I am aware that detachable plates have been used in connection with cooking-stoves, passing around the sides of the stove and depend ing for support on horizontal arms passing into slots or sockets in the sides of the stove. I, therefore, do not claim, broadly, these supplemental plates. I am also aware that rims or railings have been arranged around and above the edges of cooking-stoves; but this is not my invention.
This rim or rack will not interfere with ordin iry cooking, and will be extremely convenient.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a cooking-stove, the detachable rim B and B, in combination with the hooks F and legs D D, constructed to operate substantially as described.
In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal.
