Description

(No Model.)
F. E. BOSS. HOLDER FOR WASHERS, &c.
No. 444,328. Patented Jan. 6, 1891.
JIHHHIHHHHHIH W WITNESSES. V INVENTOR I A TTOHNE Y3 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRED E. BOSS, OF NEIV YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO ELLA MAY BOSS, OF SAME PLACE.
. HOLDER FOR WASHERS, 80C.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 444,328, dated January 6, 1891.
Application filed April 17, 1890. Serial No, 348,409-
To an whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRED E. Boss, a citizen of the United States. residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Holders for lVashers and Similar Articles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a holder for such articles as washers, rings, or collars; and by means of this invention the articles of varying diameter can be readily kept separate, as set forth in the following specification and claim, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a face view of a holder. Fig. 2 is a section along or a", Fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a plan view of Fig. 1. a
In the drawings, the letter A indicates a base or support carrying stems B for receiving the washers or articles O. The stems are of varying diameters, so as to snugly accommodate varying sizes of articles. 'By this arrangement the articles are kept separate, since an article of small diameter cannot be slipped onto a stern of large diameter, while an article of large diameter will not fit snugly onto a stem of small diameter. The various articles are thus kept easily separated and sorted by simply passing each article onto its proper stem. The stems are placed in divergent positions. The drawings show the stems arranged in two rows, the stems in each row being made to diverge from the other (No model.)
row, Fig. 3. By having the stems thus divergent the articlescan be readily slipped onto and off the stems, and the handle DE between the rows of stems can be readily grasped. The handle D is readily formed by a shank fixed to the base and provided with a pin or lugs E, whereby the holder can be lifted and carried about. The divergent rows of stems allow the hand to be readily passed between said rows, so as to grasp and hold the handle D E.
To facilitate the proper selection and arrangement of the articles 0, the base A can be provided with marks or notations, such as one-inch nut, one-and-one-fourth-inch collar, or the like, so as to indicate the size of articlE for which each stem is adapted. 5
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A holder for washers and similar articles, consisting of a base having stems of varying diameters to accommodate varying sizes of washers, said stems being arranged in divergent rows, and a handle DE placed between said rows, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing 6 witnesses.
FRED E. BOSS.
