Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ABEAM J. GIBSON, 0E woEcEsTEE, MASSACHUSETTS.
CHURN.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 44,1 79, dated September 13, 1864.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, A. J. GIBSON, of Worcester, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Ghurns; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being' had to the accompanying drawing, making; a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a side view in section in part.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figure.
rIhis invention relates toanew and improved dasher for churns.
It consists of suspending' a dasher in a common straight churn by means of a tube from a lever attached to the top of a churn. The dasher is lled with a suitable number of apertures through from top to bottom on a desirable angle. A valve is placed in the top of the tube to admit of a natural circulation of air in raising' and lowering the dasher. The principal object is to produce a flasher that can be operated with the same ease with a largequantity of cream, the construction of which produces rapid work.
rIo enable others in the artto make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
A, Fig. 1, represents the dasher with apertures B B B B bored through on angles from top to bottom of dasher for the purpose ot' causing the cream to diverge in all directions, with the same irritation with the upward as the downward motion, being particular in ha-vin g the dash to ttto the sides and fill the churn, so as to compel all the cream to pass through the apertures.
C represents a tube, and connects the dash to the lever by means of strips E, fastened to the sides of the top of the tube and bolted to the end ot lever F. The tube U is put down through dasher A and fastened at the bottom.
D represents a valve placed between strips E in top of tube.
G represents a bearing for lever F, and may be fastened to the top of any common churn.
lVliat I claim as my improvement, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a churn-flasher, which tits accurately inside ot' a straight cylindrical barrel, the holes B B B B, placed at opposite angles, as and for the purpose specified, in combination with tubular rod C and valve D, as set forth.
