  • a positive lens system 2 is disposed in front of a light guide 1 comprising an optical fiber bundle.
  • the illumination light coming from the light guide 1 is once converged and then dispersed by the positive lens 2 and, by utilizing this dispersed light, it has been made possible to obtain a wide angle illumination.
  • illumination by this illumination system has a drawback in that a peripheral portion of the visual field lacks light.
  • FIGS. 8 through 10 show various embodiments according to the present invention.
  • the example 4 relates to an optical system as shown in FIG. 14 wherein a mono-fiber one end of which is a ground spherical surface is disposed between a single positive lens and the light guide.
