Description

(No Model.)
J. E. GURTTRIGHT COMBINED RACK AND DISEWARMER.
No. 440,421. Patented Nov. l1, 1890.
UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
JOHN E. OURTTRIGI-IT, OF ONSLOIV, IOVA.
COMBINED RACK AND DISH-WARMER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 440,421, dated November 11, 1890.
Application iilcdMay 14, 1890. Serial No. 351,756. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN E. CURTTRIGHT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Onslow, inthe county of Jones and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Rack and Dish- Warmer; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention has relation to a combined rack and dish-warmer; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of parts, as hereinafter specified, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed outin the appended claims.
The object of my invention is to provide a simple inexpensive device to be attached to stovepipes, whereby clothes, towels, dac., may be hung thereon and dried, and by employing a metallic plate the rack may be readily used as a dish-warmer.v
In the drawings, Figure l is a plan view of my improved rack attached to a stove-pipe; Fig. 2, a side viewof the same; Fig. 3, a plan view of the rack used as a dish-warmer; Fig. 4, a detail view of the metallic plate.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, in which like numerals indicate corresponding parts in all the figures, 1 designates a piece of fiat iron bent in the form of a circle and having at its ends perforated lugs 2, through which is passed a threaded bolt 3,l carrying a nut 4, by means of Which the rack may be readily secured at any desired height on the stove-pipe.
In order that the articles to be dried may not come in contact with the stove-pipe, I form a circular offset 5, constructed of dat iron, secured in any desired manner to the inner circle l.
6 indicates hooks riveted to the circular offset 5, on which the articles to be dried may Y be hung.
In case the article to be dried should be heavy and cause the circular offset to sag, l interpcse a brace 7 between the inner circle and circular offset.
When it is desired to use my improved rack as a dish-warmer, I employ a plate of iron S, U-shaped in form, designed to rest upon the hooks and circular offset, and provide the same on its under face with retaining-lugs 9, designed to fit over the hooks 6.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. Ina combined rack and dish-Warnier, the combination, with the inner circle lprovided at its ends with perforated lugs, of a circular offset secured to the inner circle and the hooks thereon, substantially as described.
2. The combination, with the inner circle provided with perforated lugs, a circular offset secured to the inner circle, and a brace located between the same, of the U-shaped plate having retaining-lugs adapted to rest upon the hooks and circular offset, for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof Iafiix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
JOHN E. CURTTRIGHT.
Witnesses:
W. I-I. MCKEAN, T. B. JOHNSTON.
