IVILLIAM B. \VHITE, OF QUINCY, MASSACHUSETTS.
POCKET-OAS E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 4i 5,852, dated November 26, 1889.
Application filed August 21, 1889. Serial No. 321,537. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM B. WHITE, a citizen of theUnited States, residing at Quincy, in the county of Norfolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pocket-Cases; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appcrtains to make and use the same.
My invention consistsof an improvement in cases made of two pieces of suitable material, (preferably of leather) united at the edge by a metallic clamp, as described in Patent No. 175,171, granted to Charles F. Rumpp, March 21, 1876, and Patent No.
, 289,946, to myself, dated December 11, 1883.
My invention is applicable to a variety of uses, but is intended to be applied more especially to cases for holding small articles, such as combs, crochet-needles, thimbles, 87(1; and it consists in forming a pocket on one side or both of such a case as is described in the above-named Letters Patent, in placing on one side or both of such a case a strap desides of the case, thus dividing it into compartments.
In the drawing I have shown a plan of a case embodying my improvements, in which a is the body of the case; b, the metallic clamp which unites the several parts to- -gether,both those which form the body of the case and the pocket c and the strap d.
c is the pocket, formed at the lower end of the case.
(Z is a strap divided into four compartments by means of eyelets e e, and f is a strap attached to the strap d by means of eyelets e e.
In the manufacture of my invention it is intended to place the pocket 0 and the strap (Z upon one side or both of the pieces forming the sides of the case, the edges of the pocket and the strap being even with the edges of the pieces forming the sides of the case. The metallic clamp is then to be placed on the case, thus securely clamping the edges of the sides of the case and of the pocket and the strap 1). The compartments are to be made by means of eyelets, or in any other suitable way, on one side or both of the material forming the sides of the case before the parts are united, as above described.
I do not claim any particular mode of man ufacturing the said case; but
WVhat I do claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a case formed of two pieces of leather united at the edge by a metallic clamp, the pocket 0, connected therewith by means of said clamp, substantially as and for the purpose above described.
2. In a case formed of two pieces of leather united at the edge by a metallic clanfp, the strap 61, connected with the said case by means of the said clamp, substantially as and for the purpose above, described.
8. In a case formed of two pieces of leather united at the edge by a metallic clamp, the strap (Z, divided into compartments, substantially as and for the purpose above described.
at. In a case formed of two pieces of leather united at the edge by a metallic clamp, the pocket 0 and the strap (Z, in combination, substant-ially as and for the purpose above described.
5. In a case formed of tWo pieces of leather united at the edge by a metallic clamp, the pocket 0, the strap d, and the strap f, in combination, substantially as and for the purpose above described.
6. A case formed of two pieces of leather united at the edge by a metallic clamp, divided into compartments by means of eyelets,
substantially as and for the purpose above described.
