SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 415,104, dated November 12, .1889.

T all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALEXANDBE F. Goos- FROY, of the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in VVig-I-Iolders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective View of a ladys head surmounted by a wig secured to one of my holder-frames, the said holder being shown in broken lines. Fig. 2 is a perspective View of the holder with the accompanying net secured thereto by tie-strings threaded through perforations near the terminal ends of the spring-bars of the holder. Fig. 3 is a perspective View of an inverted holder, and Fig. 4 is a top view of a wig in the form in which it is held when attached to the holder.

Referring to the drawings, 1 represents the head of the wearer of the holder and wig.

2 represents the crown-bar of the holder, which, with the frontlet-bars 3 and the attachment-bracket 4, is preferably made of steel, but may be constructed of silver, brass, celluloid, rubber, or any other suitable material.

5 represents the net that is secured to the wig-holder frame by threads or strings 6,which pass through the web of the net and through perforations '7, that pass through near the terminals 'of the elastic bars of the holderframe; and 8 represents the wig that is secured to the holder.

The bracket 4c is secured to the elastic crown and frontal bars which it thus unites by brazing, soldering, or any other readily-fusible metallic combine that has ready affinity with the metals to be united when metallic bars are used, or by any other suitable adherent when celluloid, rubber, or other like suitable material is used in the construction.

The holder is generally placed on the head with the crown-bar, as its name denotes, resting on the front of the head, and the frontletbars, as their name also denotes, with their radiating ends presenting toward the forehead; but while said arrangement of the holderis generally preferable, it may in some cases be turned around so as to have the arched bar semicircle around over the forehead, and the radiating bars then embrace the crown of the head. I have shown three of said elastic frontlet-bars secured to the elastic crown-bar by the coadjutory bracket at; but I do not confine myself to that number, as the number may beincreased or diminished to accommodate the head of the wearer and the formation of. the wig or bangs that are held thereby. I

I have shown and described the elastic crown and frontlet bars of the wig-holder and the bracket to which they have coadjutory connection as cut or formed in sectional pieces and the sections of said bars concentrically united to their conjoint bracket 4; but I do' not confine myself to that sectional formation, for the holder may be stamped in substantially the same form out of one integral piece of material, or may be so molded.

The elastic spring-bars of the wig-holder fit snugly to the head of the wearer, so as to be no cause of inconvenience, and yet embrace the head securely, so as to effectually retain its seat and hold the wig or bangs from displacement. The net 5 is attached to the elastic bars by threads or strings that pass through the web of said net, and are threaded through the perforations 7 near the terminals of said elastic bars, and are there tied. The wig or bangs are secured to said net by stitch ing or by any other suitable means.

I claim as my invention 1. In a wig-holder, the combination of the elastic crown-bar 2 and the radiating series of elastic front-let-bars 3, secured to the center of said crown-bar, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.

2. In a wig-holder, the combination of the elastic crown-bar, the radiating series of elastic frontlet-bars, and the bracket-plate 4, to which said crown-bar and said frontlet-bars are conjointly connected, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.

3. In a wig-holder, the combination of the elastic crown-bar, the radiating series of elastic frontlet-bars, the bracket-plate 4:, that conjointly holds the bars together, the aforesaid crown and frontlet bars being provided with perforate attachment-holes 7, the net 5, secured to the holder-frame, and the tie-strings 6, that engage in said net and in the perforations 7 in the bars to secure the net to the holder-bars, substantially as described, and or bangs it carries, substantially as described,
